In preparation of the eagerly awaited Manchester derby on Sunday, Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri took shots at their arch-rivals, Manchester City. The buildup to the match is picking up heat, with both teams hoping to earn an important victory.

He spoke to journalist Martin Charquero: “Manchester is United. You don’t see City jerseys or flags.

“Sometimes, my girlfriend and I go out to try to find them and we don’t see any. Everywhere you go, there are Manchester United jerseys. I’m struck that there aren’t as many City jerseys.”

United, who are on a three-game winning streak in the Premier League and Champions League, including a stunning 1-0 win over Copenhagen, are getting ready to face a renewed City. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola’s team had a difficult time before the international break, with three losses in four matches, but they recovered back with comfortable wins over Brighton and Young Boys.

City leads United by six points in the Premier League table heading into this weekend’s match at Old Trafford. If Tottenham and Arsenal’s results go their way, a win in the derby could move them to the top spot.

Pellistri, a 21-year-old Uruguayan winger, is competing for a chance to prove his abilities in the derby. He intends to make his mark despite being an unused substitute in United’s recent wins over Sheffield United and Copenhagen.

His latest comments refer to the tremendous competition and intensity that always comes with the Manchester derby, setting the stage for what promises to be a fascinating battle between the two footballing giants.
