Manchester United has been urged to sign Dan Ashworth.

The Red Devils have reportedly made an approach to Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth about joining the club.

Ashworth has a well-established connection with INEOS head of sport Sir Dave Brailsford having worked together at the FA.

Man City CEO Omar Berrada will soon step on board from the Etihad Stadium following this season.

So, INEOS have turned their attention towards Dan Ashworth who would be given a similar role at Old Trafford.

The Englishman has earned appraisals from former managers who worked under him.

Stan Collymore believes Ashworth would be the right man for Manchester United.

“With Ashworth, they would have a man who is so in tune with player recruitment in the Premier League,” Stan Collymore tells Caught Offside.

“A man who has knowledge of the basement market, by which I mean going out and finding players such as Kaoru Mitoma when he was at Brighton.

“Someone who knows the intermediate market, in which he is turning Newcastle into a team that will consistently be competing in Europe. He understands the Premier League from top to bottom.

“In my opinion, he is the best in the business at the moment. And I think he is the right man for Manchester United.”
