Jose Mourinho has confirmed he will assess the fitness of a number of players ahead of their home tie against Fulham.

The Red Devils are yet to pick up a point in December and would fancy their chances against Fulham. They have already fallen much behind in the race to the top four and all they need is a win against the newly promoted side to help their cause.

Mourinho is battling with a number of injury issues and could make a number of changes to the starting lineup. Alexis Sanchez and Victor Lindelof are long time absentees while Anthony Martial took a knock in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

With only a limited number of options at his disposal, the gaffer is ready to wait before indulging in team selection. “[We are] still waiting for conclusions, still waiting for people like Martial, Smalling, Jones – people with these kind of doubts.

”But there is a good spirit and people are putting themselves on the line like Chris did in the last match and Jones did against Southampton. That’s important when we have so many matches and problems with some players.”

“The training session at 11am will give us some answers on Smalling, Jones, Martial and Bailly.

“Of course, Lindelof and Alexis, we don’t even speak about them, but we need answers and for sure we are going to play with players not at the maximum of their potential, but players that will make themselves available like Smalling and Jones did. Players with some difficulty will make one step forward to try to help the team.”
