Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho said that Paul Pogba can be a fantastic player for the club. Pogba was on the bench for the second successive time as Manchester United beat Fulham 4-1 yesterday.

Unlike the match against Arsenal, the Frenchman stayed on the bench during the entirety of the match.

Following the match, Mourinho said that Pogba will start in Wednesday’s Champions League fixture against Valencia.

When asked how Pogba can be a regular in the team again, Mourinho said, “He has to play with the same mentality as the team is playing. Paul can be a fantastic player, he has the potential to be a fantastic player. Against Valencia, he is going to start and have a fantastic football game to play and to show everybody how good he is.”

Mourinho also praised midfielders Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic, saying that the two have a strong mentality. He said, “You have teams that are positionally good, ready to press, and with a desire to press, and I think these two boys – Matic and Herrera – have a really strong mentality. The way they play football is to play at the top of their level and then the people in front of them were also good.”

Manchester United will hope to end their Champions League group stage on a high by beating Valencia at Valencia on Wednesday. The Red Devils are already through to the last 16 of the competition and they still have a chance of winning their group if Juventus do not win their match against Young Boys.
