Manchester United are interested in signing Al-Ittihad striker Karim Benzema.

The Red Devils are exploring a loan move for ex-Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema this January.

The French striker joined Al-Ittihad in the summer after ending his illustrious 14-year spell with Real Madrid.

The veteran forward had an extraordinary season with Real Madrid last term, scoring 31 goals and providing six assists from 43 appearances across all competitions.

Benzema has 12 goals and three assists in just 20 games for Al-Ittihad but is yet to rejoin the club’s training as manager Marcelo Gallardo has kept him out of the squad.

The legendary striker is seeking a move back to Europe who has proven himself at the highest level with both club and country.

Benzema is deemed as a perfect short-term signing for the Red Devils but the Frenchman would have to take a significant wage cut to sanction a loan move.

The 36-year-old earns a whopping £1.66 million per week in Saudi Arabia and United will not offer more than £250,000 per week for a short-term loan.

His leadership qualities and vast experience would be invaluable additions to the Manchester United dressing room.
