Despite having only two wins in 6 league games, the club posted a record revenue.

Manchester United have reported record revenues but a lack of Champions League football is set to dent next year’s results.

Manchester United have not won the Premier League title since Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are already 10 points adrift of current leaders Liverpool following Sunday’s 2-0 defeat by West Ham.

But despite their shortcomings on the pitch in the last six years, the Red Devils remain a financial juggernaut. It was revealed the club had earned a whopping £627.1 million revenue for the year, thanks primarily to ten new or renewed global partnerships, the new Premier League broadcasting cycle – as well as an increase in sponsorship and retail, merchandising, apparel & product revenue.

They reported a rise in income from £176.8 million to £185.8 million. During the three months to 30 June 2018, income was up from £121.6 million to £131.4 million, with commercial, broadcasting and matchday revenues all rising.

Looking ahead, the club noted that for fiscal 2020, it expects total revenues to be in a range of £560 million to £580 million, with total adjusted revenue to be in a range of £155 million to £165 million. This has been attributed to playing in the Europa League as opposed to the more lucrative Champions League.

The club, which will not be able to fully capitalize on UEFA’s broadcasting revenue distribution system due to missing out on the Champions League, is already off the pace in the new Premier League season.
