Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Linked With Vacant Manchester United Managerial Job

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has emerged as a prime candidate to be the next Manchester United manager after the departure of Jose Mourinho from the club.

The club confirmed Mourinho’s removal from the managerial post which means a new manager will be appointed in due course. Michael Carrick has been given the interim charge for the time being and will lead the team when United travel to Wales to face Cardiff City on Saturday.

Solskjaer incidentally had a brief stay at Cardiff following his appointment as the new manager way back in 2014 but couldn’t be able to cope up with the pressure and was eventually sacked in September lasting for just eight months in the Wales capital.

The former United forward was widely known as the super substitute as Alex Ferguson often used him to change the course of the match. The 45 year old is currently managing Norwegian club Molde and just extended his stay with the club.

Given the stature of a club like United the Red Devils hierarchy is likely to appoint a manager with vast experience and knowledge and Solskjaer who was also in charge of the United U23s for over two years happens to be a rookie in managerial aspects.
