Manchester United accidentally announced club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their assistant manager on their club’s website. There was a video on the club’s site which had the title, ‘The Most Famous Night of Ole’s Career’. The video had a caption reading, “Solskjaer becomes our interim manager, 20 seasons after clinching the Treble with THAT goal at Camp Nou…”. However, that video has been removed from the club’s website.

Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Solberg also congratulated Solskjaer via Twitter. She said, “Great day for Norwegian football. Good luck keeping control of the Red Devils, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.” However, that tweet has also been deleted.

Manchester United sacked Jose Mourinho yesterday, two days after the club’s 3-1 defeat to Liverpool. Solskjaer who played at Manchester United for 11 years, is reportedly the favorite to become the interim manager.

Solskjaer is currently the manager of his former club Molde. Molde declined to comment on Solskjaer’s links to Manchester United.

As of now, Manchester United have appointed Michael Carrick as their assistant manager before a new manager is appointed.

Manchester United play their first game under Carrick against Cardiff City on Saturday.
