Ole Gunnar SolskjaerConfirms Marcus Rashford Could Start Against Southampton

Marcus Rashford could return to the starting lineup when Manchester United take on Southampton on Saturday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed.

Rashford suffered an injury in the 0-0 draw against Liverpool but was compelled to continue for the full ninety minutes as there were no changes left with United already used their three substitutes.

Rashford was on the receiving end of a Jordan Henderson tackle and had to be treated on the pitch. The 21 year old has been the preferred number 9 since Solskjaer took over the charge.

With Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard unavailable the onus will be on the Academy graduate to lead the charge on Saturday.

Solskjaer said, “Rashford is fully fit now. I’ll probably start him,

“I don’t think there will be many changes.

“It’s the last session today, but we’re not going to take any risks, so maybe Anthony [Martial], but it might just be even a few more days before he’s ready, so probably the squad will look similar to what it did on Wednesday.

“Maybe one third of them will be Academy kids – maybe even more – so that’s a good point to take out of it.”

“It’s about getting back to winning ways at home,”

The Liverpool game was a draw, and the Burnley game before that was a draw, so we need to start picking up more points at home. So that’s the focus now.”
