Rasmus Hojlund became Ten Hag’s third signing of the summer.

The 20-year-old signed for Man United from Atalanta for an initial £64 million deal and was presented to the supporters last weekend in United’s final pre-season game.

Christian Eriksen was working hard behind the scenes to convince his Denmark colleague to join him at Old Trafford.

Hojlund is quite direct and aggressive in the final third, which the club has lacked in recent times.

The young forward has hailed Eriksen for the way he convinced Hojlund to join Manchester United this summer.

‘He has welcomed me, and he got to call himself “Agent Christian” over the summer because he did his job well behind the scenes,’ Hojlund told the Dansk Boldspil Union.

‘Now I make it sound like he negotiated my deal, but he just asked if I would like to come over here, because they were really interested in me and thought I was an exciting player.

‘He would like a new Dane to come, and he could see that the way they and I play football could be a good match. And so on and so on. We talked a lot back and forth.’
