Manchester United are not willing to take any chances on signing the highly rated Brazilian.

The English giants are reportedly close to ending their interest in signing Shakthar Donestsk midfielder Fred.

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian in recent months.

It is understood that they have been in pole position for his signature since Manchester City dropped out of the race in January.

United are in the market for at least one new defensive midfielder this summer due to the retirement of MIchael Carrick.

Fred, who has a release clause of £53m in his contract, scored four goals and created seven more in 37 appearances for Shakhtar this season.

If the Red Devils miss out him – PSG or Man City will pounce.
