According to recent reports, Manchester United CEO Ed Woodward has sanctioned a £75m transfer kitty for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to spend in January. The Red Devils bought Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James and Harry Maguire for a combined fee of £147m this summer, and it looks like their spending could be set to go on further in winter.

With Romelu Lukaku departing for Inter Milan, the Red Devils are now short of cover for the striker position. They failed to bring in either of Mario Mandzukic or Paulo Dybala after being linked to them in the final days of the transfer window.

With Alexis Sanchez also close to joining Inter Milan, the need for reinforcement in the attacking department is a priority. United were also in need of a midfielder and were linked with a move for Sporting playmaker Bruno Fernandes. However, the Red Devils opted against making a move because of the Portuguese’s habit of giving away possession far too often.

The fans were also said to be unhappy with the fact that United’s net spend in the summer was just £75m. However, it seems Woodward will loosen his purse strings again in January. United were interested in signing Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff, but the Magpies’ £50m evaluation of the youngster is likely to put them off the chase.

Manchester United are set to face Crystal Palace at Old Trafford as they look to bounce back from their 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton.
