Paul Pogba returned to Manchester United in the summer of 2016, on a five-year contract for a then-record for highest football transfer fee at £89.3 million. He left the club to join Juventus in 2012 for more game time, where he established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world.

The France International started off the last season off positively but was benched following a few poor performances. His form was often questioned last season and was even criticized by Jose Mourinho himself.

Though the 25 year old responded with brilliant performances towards the end of the season and won the United’s Player of the month for April. He ended the season with 6 goals and 11 assists in all competitions.

However, there has been speculations that the midfielder’s relation with Jose Mourinho is not good and they weren’t even in speaking terms. As a result he has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, with the European transfer window still open.

Amid transfer links, he returned to training last week after post World Cup holiday and started in the club’s first match of the season against Leicester City on Friday. He was given the Captain’s armband and converted a penalty to give the team 1-0 lead.

But Mourinho revealed on Friday that there in problem between him and Pogba. The manager claimed he’s never been so happy with him and will be again the Captain’s armband this weekend.

He said as quoted by The Sun: “The truth is we are together for two years and a couple of weeks, and I’ve never been so happy with him as I am now.

“I asked for his support, for his contribution in an important match for us when the team had difficulties.

“He did it better and for more time than we could expect. When he says he did it for the fans and for the team, it’s exactly what I want.

“Exactly what I demand from my players is what he is giving me. He is working well, he is playing well. I repeat, I couldn’t be happier than what I am.

“I have no problems at all.”

Asked if Pogba would stay at United despite speculation linked him with Barcelona, Former Chelsea manager told: “I am very confident, but if he doesn’t, that’s football.”

He added: “Is he the captain? No, the captain is Antonio Valencia.

“He has the conditions to be a captain in the future.

“But with no Antonio in the team he was the captain, and for the next match he will be captain again, but one day when Antonio comes back, he will be captain.”
