Christian Eriksen explains why Ten Hag dropped him

Christian Eriksen has struggled for game time this season.

The veteran midfielder played a key role in Erik ten Hag’s midfield as he started 25 Premier League games last season.

United have made a disastrous start to the new campaign and currently sit 10th in the league table.

Eriksen played the full 90 minutes against Nottingham Forest, Arsenal and Brighton but have played only 102 minutes across the next five league games.

The Dane explained a tactical shift from the manager has led to his playing time decreasing this season.

He believes the squad’s injuries and defensive issues are major factors behind United’s poor start to the season.

“I think you should ask the coach what he thinks,” Eriksen told Danish outlet Ekstrabladet.

“We have been hit hard by injuries in defence. We have simply conceded too many goals. I was sick last week, but I’m doing fine. I don’t have any flaws. The body feels good and of course I want to play every game.

“But if you have seen the matches yourself, you may also see that (Ten Hag) plays with slightly different types than me,” he added.
