Donny van de Beek admits he needs to leave Manchester United.

The 26-year-old midfielder has struggled for game time and is yet to be included in a matchday squad in the 2023/24 campaign.

He has made only six starts for the Red Devils since his arrival at Old Trafford three years ago.

Van de Beek has missed the second half of last season with a serious knee injury but is now back to full fitness.

He has fallen down the pecking order following the arrivals of Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat this summer.

The former Ajax midfielder admitted he needs to seek pastures new to reignite his career and could leave in January.

He said: ”I am bouncing to play matches again. The manager is making different choices now. We have a big squad and I am not the only one knocking on the door. We’ll see in January what happens.

“I need to start playing games very soon – if not at Man United then at another club. I think I have to be ambitious.

“I have always been a lover of the game. I am absolutely crazy about football. I earn a good living at United, but money is not my motivation. I want to enjoy my work every day.”
