Erik ten Hag urges squad to take responsibility after Bournemouth defeat.

The Dutch manager claims his squad doesn’t have the mentality to achieve the consistency of an elite team after their humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth.

The Red Devils have endured a dismal start to the season across all competitions and Ten Hag is under pressure to keep his job at Old Trafford.

The loss to Bournemouth was United’s ninth defeat in 17 games this season, making this their worst start to a campaign since 1962-63.

The squad were booed having been outplayed and outfought in an embarrassing fashion by the Cherries.

Ten Hag believes his squad is very inconsistent and really needs to step as a group if they were to challenge for Champions League qualification.

“Of course, annoyed and disappointed, definitely,” United boss Ten Hag said. “I expected something different.

“That (consistency) is of course the question, but I think we have to always be ready for the game, so I have to take the responsibility for that.

“I have to prepare my team so that they are ready for the game, so from my point of view I’m very disappointed the way we started so I have to do the things better.”
