The Dutch manager is willing to take a new challenge away from Ajax.

Man United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last month and Ajax manager Erik ten Hag was among the candidates linked to succeed Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

But the board has appointed Ralf Rangnick as interim manager for six months before switching to a consultancy role with the club.

By the end of this season, United would still be looking for a permanent manager to take charges of this world-class team.

Ten Hag could be the perfect candidate to thrive on Rangnick’s work and could surely join the Red Devils in the summer.

His contract with Ajax expires in the summer of 2023.

“I think I’m ready for it [coaching abroad]. I would be happy to take up that challenge.” Ten Hag told de Volkskrant.

“But I’m not chasing it. If it turns out that that step will never come, I will not say that my coaching career has failed.

“But I think I have sufficient competencies to take on that challenge.”
