Erik ten Hag hails captain Bruno Fernandes after Fulham goal.

The Man United skipper scored a crucial late goal to win against Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

Fernandes came under criticism after Roy Keane slammed the midfielder following the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Even some fans have questioned the midfielder’s attitude on the pitch and Ten Hag’s decision to make him the captain.

But the Portuguese midfielder scored the only goal in the stoppage team to silence his critics who questioned his leadership qualities.

Erik ten hag has responded to the criticism of the Portuguese midfielder.

“From the moment I made him captain he did this [win games],” Ten Hag told a post-match news conference.

“Always when he is playing, he is giving energy and setting the example. And you see the way he is pressing, the way he is counter pressing. The way he makes recovery runs. He is absolutely the example and he is taking responsibility all the time. On and off the pitch.

“He takes responsibility by scoring important goals but also in how he is always wanting the ball and always wanting to create. I’m happy with my captain.”
