Erik ten Hag backs Antony to be a success at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian international is the club’s second-most expensive player and has failed to register a goal or an assist this season.

He was placed on a temporary leave of absence when concerning allegations were made against him by a few women.

Antony has struggled to live up to his €100 million transfer fee after joining from Ajax 14 months ago.

The 23-year-old winger has been criticised for his lack of output on the right flank and this situation is worrying for the Dutch manager.

But Ten Hag reinstated that the noise surrounding Antony has affected his performances on the pitch.

“That is also team, first, and the team is not playing well when we don’t bring him the balls and I am also responsible for that,” the United boss told the press on Wednesday night.

“But obviously, there was also a lot of noise and that dropped his levels. He can do better but all the players can do better. Antony is also a fighter, he has the confidence, he is brave and I am confident he will bring the performance, that he is the right player for us.”
