Harry Maguire was stripped of his captaincy earlier this season.

The 30-year-old England international has endured a difficult campaign over the last 18 months.

He has fallen down the pecking order behind the likes of Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez.

Maguire needs to play regularly to earn his place in the Three Lions squad for the European Championship coming up next summer.

His form has declined in the last year to such an extent that manager Erik Ten Hag deployed Luke Shaw in the centre-back position.

The former Leicester City defender will leave Old Trafford in the coming months if he is not guaranteed enough minutes at the club.

Manager Erik ten Hag has urged the former skipper to fight for his place even though he retained his place in the England team in the European qualifiers.

Man United paid an exorbitant fee of £80 million for his services back in 2019 but the defender has been unable to live up to the expectations since his move to Old Trafford.

Maguire has been recently linked with Jose Mourinho’s Roma and the move could help him regain his confidence and sharpness.
