Man United told to opt out of renewing contracts for Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof.

Both Victor Lindelof and Raphael Varane’s contract expires at the end of this season but Daily Mail confirms that Man United doesn’t plan to extend the contract on the Frenchman.

The World Cup winner will be free to negotiate a free transfer to a foreign club.

Man United were thought to be interested in renewing Varane’s contract but the club has decided to not trigger the extension clause in his deal.

United’s transfer policy will undergo some big changes following the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and difficult decisions have to be made in the coming months.

It’s strange how the club is prioritising Lindelof’s future over Varane’s, given that the former Real Madrid defender is considered one of the best in Europe.

Club legend Gary Neville believes the club needs a completely clean slate and should not renew Lindelof and Varane’s contract even on reduced wages.

Neville tweeted: ‘If United are looking to renew Lindelof and Varane (on reduced terms) I’m worried.

‘We have to start afresh as much as possible.

‘Whilst these 2 aren’t bad players by any stretch, a message must be sent to everyone inside and outside of the club that it’s not going to tolerate the levels over the last few years.’
