Manchester United get Bayern Munich Star price

Jose Mourinho is targeting a top class centre-back

Manchester United are looking to bolster their squad in the transfer window after an underwhelming campaign this season, not winning a single silverware. Their priority is to add defensive reinforcements and club will also look to sell few players to accommodate new signings.

The Red Devils are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window and already have completed two signings. Teenage full-back Diogo Dalot has signed from Porto, while a £52.5 million fee has been agreed with Shakhtar Donetsk for Brazil international Fred.

Despite having the most clean sheets and the second best defensive record in the Premier League last term, Jose Mourinho is still not happy as he had to rely on auxiliary full-backs and failed to settle on a consistent central defensive axis due to injuries and inconsistency.

The Portuguese is targeting a top class centre-back this summer despite spending big on defenders in the past two years. The club have been linked with host of them which includes Bayern Munich star Jerome Boateng.

The Germany International joined the German side from Manchester City for a fee of €13.5 million on a four-year deal in 2011. He has been a mainstay in the defense for the club, winning six Bundesliga titles and a Champions League to go with numerous other trophies.

The 29 year old though cast some doubt over his future by admitting that he may look for new challenges and could potentially leave the club. He is contracted with the club until 2021 but has recently been linked with a move back to Premier League.

Manchester United have been told by Bayern Munich the price for Boateng is around £50 million, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The Premier League giants continue talks over Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld but the defender is priced at £70 million. Mourinho is looking for cheaper options and has turned his attention towards the German defender, who will cost much less.
