Wolves star
Manchester United want to buy Ruben Neves

Reports claim that Manchester United will join Manchester City in the race to sign Wolves star Ruben Neves.

Earlier, several reports suggested that Pep Guardiola was keen in bringing the 21-year old Portuguese to Manchester City after narrowly missing out on signing Jorginho. Now, derby rivals United have also joined the race.

Last season, Neves played a significant role in helping Wolves win the championship which got them promoted to the Premier League. In 42 matches, Neves scored 6 goals and provided an assist.

This season, Neves has done brilliantly for Wolverhampton Wanderers so far. He has played four matches scoring once and assisting once.

It is believed that Jose Mourinho admires his young copatriot and wants to bring him to Old Trafford. Provided both Manchester clubs make a bid for the £60 million rated midfielder in January, it could be a repeat of the bidding war to sign Alexis Sanchez last winter. The Chilean forward eventually joined Manchester United.

The Wolves star and Jose Mourinho both have the same agent- Jorge Mendes who is also Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent.

Wolves are currently in 11th position in the Premier League table. Out of four matches, they have won and lost once, drawing on the other two occasions. They have drawn against reigning champions Manchester City.

Nuno Santo’s team next play Burnley on Sunday.
