According to reports from Italian daily newspaper La Gazzette dello Sport, Manchester United are willing to prepare a bid of €150 million for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
Manchester United have shown interest in signing Koulibaly for a long time. The Red Devils have been desperate to sign a quality centre-back since last summer. Following the World Cup, Manchester United were keen on signing the likes of Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire but could not do so. As the season progressed, then manager Jose Mourinho was interested in signing Kalidou Koulibaly.
Mancester United even made a record bid of £95 million for the Senegal defender. However, Napoli rejected the bid. Last month, a report from Calciomercato claimed that Napoli would not sell Koulibaly for any price less than €150 million. Hence, Manchester United are planning to pay Napoli that amount in order to sign the 27-year old.
One of the best defenders in the world right now, Koulibaly has been an integral player for Napoli ever since joining the club from Genk. This season, the defender has been in sublime form for the Gli Azzurri so far. Koulibaly has made 37 appearances across all competitions, providing two assists.
However, Manchester United aren’t the only club who has shown interest in Koulibaly. The likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea are also keen on signing the Senegal defender.
Koulibaly is current on international duty with Senegal as they play Madagascar and Mali today and on Tuesday respectively.
