Manchester United set to part ways with Raphael Varane in January transfer window

Manchester United plans to split ways with Raphael Varane during the upcoming January transfer window. The French defender, who won the World Cup in 2018, has been banished to the bench in recent games by manager Erik ten Hag, who prefers Harry Maguire in the crucial right center-back post.

According to sources, Ten Hag does not believe Varane is effective in the left center-back position, preferring Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof instead.

Varane’s playing time appears to be much more questionable now that Luke Shaw has returned from injury. According to reports, the player is dissatisfied with his current situation.

Manchester United, aware of Varane’s frustration, is allegedly open to a winter departure for as little as €20 million. However, the club is not interested in loan deals.

Bayern Munich are thought to be keeping an eye on the situation, although talks are still in the early stages, and the German champions may struggle to match Varane’s current wage.

There is speculation that Varane could find a new home in the Saudi Pro League, where clubs have a history of paying top wages to attract exceptional players. This move has the potential to treble the 30-year-old’s earnings.

As United considers Varane’s departure, they may use the funds to sign a replacement, with Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo emerging as a major target for a €40 million transfer.
