Manchester United have been chasing Bruno Fernandes all summer and now The Independent have provided a faint glimmer of hope to the United fans regarding the Red Devils’ pursuit for the player.

According to the publication, United will make a bid in the region of £50m to try and secure a deal for Fernandes in the next three weeks. Sporting have slapped a £70m price tag – an asking price Ed Woodward is adamant to meet given that the playmaker has no Champions League experience.

On personal terms, Fernandes already has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford and is waiting for the clubs to chisel out a deal.

Solskjaer has marked Fernandes as his number one target following the departures of Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini as he looks to bolster his midfield personnel.

The Portuguese midfielder is also being viewed as a valuable addition in case Paul Pogba quits the club this summer.
