Neville’s Greenwood-Rashford comparison will leave you stunned

Yes, Mason Greenwood is surely a brilliant striker but Gary Neville has as usual taken it too far by comparing him with Marcus Rashford and concluding that Greenwood is better.

Neville had the following to say:

“I like Greenwood a lot. The composure that he shows at such a young age, his great physical presence.

“The way in which he finishes is that of a top centre-forward. Sometimes when you see a young player in front of goal, they panic a bit and snatch at things—(Daniel) James and (Jesse) Lingard do that quite a lot.

“But I’d say Greenwood is a better finisher than Rashford—and that’s saying something. He really does look the real deal. I think Solskjaer knows that and he’s going to bleed him in.”

“You saw it with 20 minutes to go against Everton, they needed someone in midfield who could pull the strings, someone up top who could lead the line and bring other players into play. That’s something that’s desperately missing at the moment.

“Solskjaer himself will want two or three quality players in as quickly as possible so these youngsters can demonstrate their real quality.”

Greenwood hailed as a natural number nine by Ole

Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood has been hailed as a brilliant striker with natural instincts by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“It’s easy from the outside, sitting in the stands and watching,” Manchester United boss Solskjaer said of what United should have done differently. “Could have done that, should have done that. It was a bit of a calm head [needed,]that maybe you’ll get a bit more experience because young kids wanna do it, want to do well and we just didn’t have that one little bit extra composure.

“You wanted the ball to drop to Mason, for example, because he’s so calm and composed in there, when he gets a chance he takes his chances. We put them under pressure, ran out of time towards the end.

“It’s just so natural for him, knows exactly what to do, because if you open your legs he shoots through you, if you close your legs he bends it round you. He can go right and left.

“Too many chances are missed, in general, in football of strikers rushing the finish, stressing, but the best ones have that little extra half second and he does.”

Ryan Giggs Slams Anthony Martial’s ‘Lethargic’ Performance Against Everton

Ryan Giggs Slams Anthony Martial's 'Lethargic' Performance Against Everton

Ryan Giggs had some choice words for Anthony Martial after the Frenchman’s performance in the 1-1 Everton draw.

Mason Greenwood came off the bench to save a point for the Red Devils when the starting number nine was mostly absent during the Old Trafford tie.

“He is talented, and he’s not a bad kid, but the problem he has is that he looks lethargic all the time. He looks casual, as if he’s not bothered,” Giggs told Premier League Productions (via Metro ).

“When it comes off, and he’s doing brilliant things, you say it just comes naturally. But when it’s not, you think: he’s not running, he’s not trying, he’s not working hard enough, he’s not holding the ball up.

“So in my eyes he has to try extra hard because of his persona, because of the way that he moves. But he doesn’t look like he breaks sweat and when United are chasing a game you want someone to get across the front post – you might not score, but your team-mate might score.

“It’s all these sort of things that you’re not getting off him at the moment. With Mason [Greenwood] coming on and doing that, getting in positions to score goals, he [Martial] is going to be under pressure, because he’s not giving you anything defensively and he’s not giving you anything offensively either.”

As Jose’s team prepares for their Chelsea match, Mourinho talks about a new threat coming up to the top 4. He said this after the 2-1 Tottenham versus the Wolves.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho warns Manchester United and Chelsea about the rising position of the Wolves, who want to secure the Champions League spots this year.

“We wouldn’t lose points to Wolves because Wolves can say what they want but I think what they want top four.

“They can say top six or top eight – not for me. For me it’s top four.

“So for us a draw wouldn’t be a drama but of course it’s a fantastic victory.”

“He knows what he wants to do and knows what he is going to do.”

“My feeling is that they (Wolves) are with us, Chelsea, United, Arsenal,” Mourinho said.

“They are fighting for the top six and they are smelling top four.

“I think that is what they do. In the Europa League, they can beat anyone – home and away.

“They have an incredible mentality.”

“Three weeks ago we were twelve [eleven] points behind from fourth and now we’re three points off fourth.

“We play Chelsea next week but we know that now we have to enjoy it [the win against Wolves] a little bit.

“The boys have two days off for the first time in many, many, many, many months which is also very important.”

Not many players feel like leaving Manchester United.

They are after all, the biggest club in the world. For Andreas Pereira the situation was pretty much similar when other clubs came to approach him.

“He [Solskjaer] has been massive for me. Perhaps if he had not been at the club, I might not have been at the club as well,” the 23-year-old winger said.

“I have to be thankful. He spoke to me and said I would get more opportunities with him. He said if I get better and better then I will play more and more and that’s what has happened.

“In the summer I was thinking about my options.

“Yes, I was a bit worried but I always wanted to stay here because Manchester is my home. I’ve been here since I was 16 years old so I am very happy that the manager is staying and I want to stay with him too.”

“He has just given me belief,” added Pereira. “He believes in my potential and knows there is more to come.

“Every game I feel more comfortable. In every game I am reaching my goals. I am very happy.”

Erling Haaland Wants Manchester United Move

Erling Haaland Wants Manchester United Move

According to the latest reports, Erling Haaland wants to secure a move to Manchester United.

Red Bull Salzburg have dropped out of the Champions League and Haaland immediately flew out to Borussia Dortmund to discuss a move with the Bundesliga side.

A starting spot is guaranteed at BVB but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s influence is pulling him towards considering an Old Trafford switch. Haaland would have to compete against the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood for a spot in the first team.

The 19-year-old has excelled at top level this season, scoring 28 goals in 22 appearances. He was managed by Ole Solskjaer at Molde before switching to Salzburg last January. Reports claim United could sign him out for as low as £20m.

When asked how the current crop of players would respond to another new arrival, Solskjaer said, “I was a player here for 11 years and I can’t tell you how many strikers we signed that were supposedly going to take my place in the team or in the squad.

“That’s the challenge of being at Manchester United. You are never, ever guaranteed to play every game unless you perform to the absolute best of your ability. That’s down to Marcus, in the end, but what I would say is that he wants this squad to be as strong as possible. We all want to win games, we all want to win trophies and you don’t do that with 11 players.”

Ole doesn’t doubt his abilities at Man United

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar states that he always had faith in his abilities to manage the team at Old Trafford.

Man United haven’t lost 5 matches in the Premier League run, with no one beating them and currently are in the 6th position ahead of Everton’s Sunday game.

“I always had the belief that I could manage this club. I wouldn’t have taken the job if I had felt I couldn’t do it because I owe Manchester United honesty,” Solskjaer admitted.

“Football wise, I think I can hold my own when it comes to tactics and stuff, but I have a great staff to help me. It’s not all about me.

“I’m so glad I’ve got Michael Carrick, Mike Phelan and Kieran McKenna and I think I make them feel that I can do the job here and that’s happening.

“That’s why I was never afraid of not being able to handle this. I always knew I could.

“It’s about treating people the right way and, for me, managing United is treating the staff, the players, anyone the same. It doesn’t matter which club I’m at, that’s just my personality.”

Jesse Lingard feared his Manchester United career was over

Lingard continues on improving with each game.

But it could have all turned out differently…

Manchester United star Jesse Lingard has revealed he thought his United career was over after a holiday video he posted on social media which did not go down well with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Lingard received widespread criticism from all quarters.

He endured a poor run of performances that cost him his place for his club and England, with a strike in the 2-1 loss to Astana last month ending a 307-day wait to score a goal. During pre-season, the 26-year-old posted a crude video to Snapchat while on holiday with friends and was disciplined by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Lingard opened up on the situation in an interview with Daily Mail. “It genuinely was a mistake to post it. I have a lot of young followers and I would never put that out there deliberately. It was an accident.

“I was meaning to send it privately to one of my friends. I was on a plane waiting to take off. Someone from the club texted me and said: ‘Take the video down.’
“When I realized what I had done, my heart just sank into my stomach. I was like, ‘I am done at United now. This is the final straw.’

“I was told the manager was going mad, but I was in the air for two hours and literally couldn’t do anything. When I got back, I came in early to speak to the manager and apologize. He said I was on my last chance. He said I had to get my head down and that is what I have done. I am not stupid.

“There is no way I was going to let what I have at this club be taken away. On the whole, I have cut down on my social media stuff now. You do what you have to do,” he said.

The talk with Solskjaer proved to be a turning point, with Lingard having impressed from the start in last week’s wins over Tottenham and Manchester City after an encouraging appearance off the bench in a 3-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion last month.

Reports are emerging that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has flown to Austria to meet with Erling Haaland’s representatives.

The forward is a hot prospect right now with his record of 28 goals in 22 games this season.

He reportedly is wanted by a host of clubs but it was Solskjaer who gave Haaland his first start when he was still managing the youngster at Molde. The 19-year-old has developed into a lethal forward in the Red Bull Salzburg ranks.

“I tried to explain to him in good English what my idea of football was,” said Nagelsmann. “I think it went quite well. After such talks you can say relatively little because they are usually very one-sided. You tell a lot as a coach, the consultant and the player listen.”

Earlier reports claimed that Erling Haaland had also flown to Germany to meet with Borussia Dortmund chiefs. When asked if Leipzig will able to beat BVB for the striker’s signature, Nagelsmaan replied, “You have to ask him. It could be a factor.”

United have been encouraged after hearing Haaland’s transfer could be completed for only £20m as opposed to the £85m that was being quoted earlier.

‘A Killer In The Box’ – Mason Greenwood Earns Praise From Teammate

'A Killer In The Box' - Mason Greenwood Earns Praise From Teammate

Juan Mata hailed Mason Greenwood as “a killer in the box” after the forward’s brace against AZ Alkmaar.

It was a poor start to the match by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men. The Norwegian boss named a mix of reserves and academy graduates for this tie.

Ashely Young opened the scoring in the first half while Greenwood knocked in two impressive strikes. Juan Mata wrapped it up with a penalty. He said after the game. “It feels good.

”I think the second half was very good. AZ were good in the first half and we didn’t have rhythm. We started the second half much better and we changed our shape a bit. We have scored four goals, we are through and it is a happy night.”

Mata also singled out Greenwood in his post-match interview, praising the youngster’s scoring abilities.

“Every time he plays, he scores,” the Spaniard said. ”In training, he might not touch the ball a lot but he is a finisher and a killer in the box. He is a nice kid and I’m very happy for him.”

Manchester United are due to face Everton next at Old Trafford on Sunday.
