Manchester United pick Saul Niguez to replace Paul Pogba

It is clear that somewhere down the line, United may lose Pogba.

And they have already identified his replacement.

Manchester United have just about started to get back on their feet after successive wins over Tottenham and Manchester City, and the Red Devils would have the added bonus of a returning Paul Pogba from injury soon too. However, the Frenchman’s long term future at United remains doubtful, with Real Madrid waiting in the wings and Zinedine Zidane ready to pounce at any given moment.

With Pogba doing nothing to quell the rumours, United have been forced to look for reinforcements, and AS are reporting that one man that has been shortlisted to join the midfield ranks is Saul Niguez. The Atletico Madrid star is very much a part of the plans of Diego Simeone, but has garnered interest from several top European clubs, though Atleti have done well to keep their midfield general for now.

United have suffered in their midfield this season, with periodic injuries to the likes of Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic. It is well documented that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs backup in the central area, and might well consider Saul as the man ready to take the spot in midfield.

The start of the January transfer window should clear things up in this regard.

Manchester United Told To Get Rid Of Paul Pogba And Reinvest In Necessary Players

Ian Holloway has advised Manchester United to get rid of Paul Pogba and to spend the cash elsewhere.

Real Madrid still hold an interest in the World Cup winner while he continues to spend time on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

There is firm speculation that Pogba might be delaying his return in order to secure a move away from Old Trafford. In his absence, United have climbed up to the fifth spot of the Premier League and are now only 4 points behind Chelsea.

When asked what he would do with the 26-year-old, Holloway said, “I’d put him in the back of my car and drive him off – go away! I would, sorry. Do you think they’re missing him? I don’t, not at all! What could you do with that money? If you look at Ole’s last three signings, I love them all, he’s done well.

“So if you get rid of Pogba and give Ole that money to re-buy, I think Man United will be in a much better place. The focus they had on winning and what it takes to win was there every week, every minute, all the time and that was put there by their manager [referring to Sir Alex Ferguson].

“I believe their new manager is trying to do that and some of the lads aren’t having it, and Pogba is one of them because he cannot do it week-in, week-out.”

Ole compares Marcus Rashford to Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has drawn up comparisons between star striker 22-year old Marcus Rashford and 34-year old Cristiano Ronaldo, who is a striker at Juventus.

Rashford broke through into the first team at Manchester United as a teenager, thanks to Louis Van Gaal. Rashford made an instant impact and has not had to look back ever since.

Just like Ronaldo, Rashford is a crowd favourite at Old Trafford. Much like the Portuguese, Rashford is also brilliant from dead ball situations.

“It’s very easy to compare the two of them, yes,” Ole admitted.

“Both with skills, body shape, attitude, attributes – everything. The boy has every chance in the world to become a top, top player. Let’s hope he continues like this.”

However, the United manager has no intentions of setting any goal targets for star player Rashford.

“I don’t want to talk about the amount of goals,” he said.

“As long as he keeps being positive and being direct and thinking about getting in front of the goal and getting chances, he’ll score goals.”

So now we can see why Ole Gunnar is correct to compare Marcus Rashford with the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester United make bid for Serie A breakthrough star Deajn Kulusevski

The Sweden international is currently a hot prospect on the market.

And one club has emerged as a front-runner now.

Manchester United are going through a rather unusual season, as they pick the points against the top teams while dropping them against the bottom ones. Despite that, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be looking to add new blood to his squad in January. One Serie A star has been linked with the Red Devils, with reports indicating that a bid has been submitted.

According to a report by the Express, Manchester United have submitted a £21 million (€25 million) bid for Swedish winger, Dejan Kulusevski. The Atalanta-owned youngster is spending the season on loan at Parma and has attracted interest owing to his top-drawer performances.

The 19-year-old is caught the eye with his performances, scoring three goals and registering five assists this season. Inter Milan are one of the sides keen on his services, with Antonio Conte looking to add depth to the forward areas. United are looking to do the same, as they remain short of options up-front following the departures of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are on a peculiar run at the moment. The Red Devils have beaten both Tottenham and Manchester City within a space of three days but faced difficulties getting past the bottom-tier teams prior to that. Their next match sees them take on one such team, as they invite struggling Everton to Old Trafford.

Real Madrid Outcast Prefers Manchester United Move

According to the latest reports, James Rodriguez would not mind a move to Manchester United after rejecting Atletico Madrid.

It is abundantly clear there is no place for the Columbian at the Santiago Bernabeu under Zinedine Zidane.

Real Madrid are under serious pressure to sell their unwanted players in order to comply with FInancial Fair Play rules. They have invested in a lot of top grade talent without sending a whole lot the other way. One of the biggest names expected to leave the Galacticos on January is Gareth Bale.

Rodriguez could be the other one, given how his talents are needed at Old Trafford. The 28-year-old’s agent, Jorge Mendes wants him to join Wolves due to his strong relationship with the club.

There is little chance of Real recouping the entire £63m they spent on Rodriguez five years back. He scored 15 goals in 67 appearances while on his loan spell with Bayern Munich. After the loan, Rodriguez requested the Bundesliga outfit to not pursue a permanent deal.

The attacking midfielder’s name has been thrown around in the transfer market almost as a free agent since then. His contract with Real is set to last till the summer of 2021.

Ole wants United to perform better against lesser teams

The strangest thing about Manchester United this season is that they have beaten or at least drawn against all the teams above them but have performed miserably against the teams below them.

“If it’s a mental thing, then we can sort it out,” he said, according to several British newspapers. “We’ll work with the mentality of the boys.

“For me, it’s been very much about margins in those games. Some freak results that we can’t control.

“But if you look behind the results, I’m not as negative as you are. I’m not so worried, so concerned. If the boys are then telling me they can’t get up for these games then we’ve got a problem.

“Then I’ve really got to work with them because, when I played, that’s how we won the league.

“We never gave points away against the lesser teams, the not-so-good teams. The Premier League is difficult – if you don’t have that mentality you won’t get results.

“You’ve got to earn the right to win. Sometimes you’ve got to earn it by passing quicker, winning the ball back – there are different ways of winning games of football.”

Maguire sets sight on top four

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has set his sights on the top four spot after beating Manchester City.

“I think you need to look after your own results, don’t look elsewhere, keep winning games,” Maguire, the world’s most expensive defender, said.

“We’ve won back-to-back games against Spurs and City. We’ve got another big game next week now.

“The top four is in sight but we just keep looking after our own results, keep trying to get the three points and keep improving.”

“Over the last month or so, I feel like as a defender I look at the forwards and think they’re going to score goals,” Maguire told MUTV.

“At the start of the season we didn’t really score more than one goal in a game but now I think it’s a few games on the spin where we’re back to scoring goals.“They’re a big threat, they’re top players, great talent and I think it’s all coming together now.

“But, no, we’re not getting carried away.

“It’s a big three points, it’s a special win, one for the fans, I’m really happy for them.

“We just keep moving up that table and keep chipping away.”

Ole hoping Rashford form continues

Statistically speaking, Marcus Rashford is in the form of his life.

The United hitman has been hitting the back of the net rather frequently of late.

When the season started, United lost their actual number nine in Romelu Lukaku. And it was Marcus Rashford who was asked to step up the plate. And boy he has done that.

“He is doing that at the moment,” Solskjaer told his pre-match press conference.

“He’s doing it consistently now, scoring 10 in the last 11, but it’s not like four in one and two or three without.

”It’s not just in spurts but he’s consistently getting chances, and into better positions, and on Wednesday night he was unbelievable. I hope to see that again.”

Rashford is a striker who can play in the wings as well. He is also very young and has a lot of development to do.

If the player can keep growing like he is doing now, he will definitely become one of the better players in the game.

United just need to make sure they surround him with the right players and the right management staff so he can grow a lot more!

Television footage appeared to show a supporter making racist gestures.

The target players were Manchester United’s Fred and Jesse Lingard.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of a “racially aggravated public order” during Saturday’s clash between Manchester City and Manchester United, Greater Manchester Police have confirmed. During the second half of United’s 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium, the visitors’ midfielder Fred appeared to be hit by an object thrown from the crowd as he prepared to take a corner.

Lighters and a plastic bottle could be seen by the corner flag, while television footage seemed to show a supporter making racist gestures in the direction of Brazil international Fred and his team-mate Jesse Lingard. Shortly after full-time, City released a statement saying they were investigating and threatened to issue life bans to any individual found to have committed racial abuse.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “A man has been arrested after a video posted on social media showed a supporter making racist gestures at the Manchester City v Manchester United match at the Etihad Stadium yesterday.

“At around 6.55pm on Saturday 7 December 2019 police were called to a report of a supporter making alleged racist gestures and sounds towards players during the Manchester City and Manchester United derby. A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order and remains in custody for questioning.”

Up against the odds and deliver it!

That is the United way and that is exactly what the Red Devils did yesterday. They were up against Manchester City and used their most lethal weapon. Speed on counter attack. It caught City off guard and Guardiola has respected the class to which he lost.

“I like how my team played,” he said at his post-match news conference. “We conceded a little bit more space – not more than usual, but more than last year against United.

“We knew about the pace they have, with James, Martial and Rashford, but sometimes it is not possible to control it.”

“In general, we did what we like,” Guardiola added. “We arrived in the final third many, many, many, many times.

“Unfortunately, we couldn’t finish a little bit more, but I like to watch my team. I know nobody agrees but I like it.”

“Sometimes it happens,” he added. “Sometimes you don’t win and the others are better and you lose. Normal is not winning the league always, sometimes you lose.

“It is important not to give up and try to do what we do as a team. All the games we play a season we play the game I want my team to play.

“After that, the counter-attacks, the final third, when we struggle in some departments okay, it’s part of the process. Maybe next season we will be better.”
