Manchester United U23 defender Max Taylor has returned for training this week after cancer treatment.

The 19-year-old CB joined United in 2014 and signed his first professional contract last year. Max Taylor signed his first professional contract at Manchester United in 2018 but started his chemotherapy in February this year. He is back with his teammates for the first time this week having successfully completed chemotherapy for cancer.

He told ManUtd.com: “I feel immensely proud and happy to be back on the pitch with my team-mates and friends.

“Without the invaluable support of my family, team-mates and of course the nurses and doctors, my return to training at this stage would not have been possible.

“I want to thank all of the club’s medical and sports science staff I have worked with throughout my rehabilitation.

“The next step is to continue working hard in the gym and out on the grass to hopefully make my return on the pitch.”

How Close Jadon Sancho Actually Came To Signing For Manchester United

Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director, Michael Zorc revealed just how close Jadon Sancho came to signing with Manchester United.

The Englishman enjoyed a breakout season last year after quitting Manchester City and being handed a chance in the Dortmund first team by Lucien Favre.

Sancho were in elite company mid-way through the season, registering as many assists as Lionel Messi and Eden Hazard in Europe’s top five leagues. He finished the campaign with 13 goals and 19 assists in 43 appearances.

United expressed a strong interest in the 19-year-old in January and were reportedly even willing to pay his €100m asking price. Zorc revealed that United approached them but BVB were not interested in selling Sancho, for any amount of cash.

When asked about how close United came in stealing away the winger, Zorc replied, “Not close at all. We didn’t talk to them. They were asking us for a meeting. Sancho is not for sale.”

Speculation still follows Sancho around as he continues to impress for the Bundesliga outfit. He has already collected 6 assists and 3 goals in 7 appearances this season and is improving by each game.

With Marco Reus fitting in more centrally, Sancho has become an integral part of the Dortmund’s attack, being handed the freedom to create from wide spaces.

He featured against Barcelona on Tuesday night and constantly troubled Ernesto Valverde’s backline. He ended up winning his side a penalty which, unfortunately, Reus missed to end the match goalless.

The Lesson Manchester United Learn Through Sanchez Transfer: Gary Neville

The Lesson Manchester United Learn Through Sanchez Transfer: Gary Neville

Gary Neville believes Manchester United learnt a very painful message through Alexis Sanchez’s transfer.

The Chilean has been shipped out to Inter Milan this summer after a very poor 18 months at Old Trafford.

“To be fair, we’d watched Alexis Sanchez for three, four, five years at Arsenal,” Neville said on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.

“He was tenacious, goalscorer, giving his all every single minute of every game, nobody could have seen the disaster that was about to happen. I don’t know what happened to him.

“That wasn’t Alexis Sanchez that played at Manchester United that we watched. He’d been proven, you knew that United were only going to get a couple of years out of him but he was almost free in some senses, I know his wages were massive.

“But my point is no one could have seen how bad he could have been but it was a lesson to United. Falcao, Di Maria, Schweinsteiger, Sanchez – they’ve done it and they’ve spent and wasted hundreds of millions of pounds on these players.”

Sanchez’s presence will not be missed at Manchester even if the Red Devils are thinly stacked this season. Inter have been offered a chance to buy him out permanently and it is more than likely, the Nerazzurri will follow through next summer.

“It didn’t happen but, Arsenal, I appreciate what they did for me.”

Manchester United newcomer Daniel James has lifted the lid on how he almost quit football when he was 12. The Welshman joined the Red Devils in summer this season and has seen off a great start to his career in the Premier League, scoring 3 goals in first 5 games for the club.

“At the start, when I got to nearly 12 years old, I actually nearly gave up football,” he told Inside United.

“I had a serious meeting with the coaches at Hull [for them] to say: ‘No, we think you’ve got the ability and we want you to stay on here’. Thankfully, from there, I did stay on.”

“There were times when I wasn’t enjoying it, but I think as a person I developed a lot, especially when I went to play my first game for Wales when I was 14,”

“I think that’s why I’ve come to be a winger now. Otherwise, I think I’d play in a different position.”

“Obviously, I did enjoy my football — it was just that I was missing out with friends,” he added. “But they are the sacrifices that sometimes you have to make as a footballer, to make it. I know nowadays there’s a lot more.”

“I was training three times a week, where most boys now are training every day. That’s the sacrifice you’ve got to make. It is difficult, especially for parents as well.”

Former Manchester United captain and legend Patrice Evra has said that the players need to give it their all and bleed for the club if they want to be successful. The Frenchman also praised Solskjaer’s appointment as manager but said that it is upto the players to deliver the results on the pitch.

“We’ve had too many managers, David Moyes, [Louis] van Gaal, [Jose] Mourinho. I just think for the players it’s difficult.”

“One manager wants to play one way, another manager wants to play another way, you need to know the value of the club and Manchester United.”

“That’s why I think Ole is a good appointment for the club. He knows the philosophy of the club.”

“It’s difficult when you come to Manchester United from the outside, people don’t accept you straight away. You need to bleed for this club before people accept you.”

Evra also added that David de Gea shouldn’t be winning the POTY award as it sends across a wrong message.

“I always wish that he is the best player in the world, but I never wish him to be the best player at Manchester United because that means something is wrong with my midfield, with my attack, with my defence,” said Evra.

“So, please David, win the best goalkeeper in the world but not the Player of the Year here!”

Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund has said that he is solely focused on Borussia Dortmund amidst claims linking him with a move to Manchester United.

“I can’t tell the future. I just take it game by game. I just wanna give 100 per cent for Borussia Dortmund,” Sancho told Viasport .

“I really want to do well with Dortmund. Obviously, I want to win titles and give everything.”

“It’s crazy. Everything has come so fast,” Sancho told Viasat .

“But I have a great team. They keep me humbled. I just take it game by game and give 100%.”

His club director Zorc meanwhile declared that the player is not for sale.

“We didn’t talk to them [United],” Zorc told Viasport.

“They were asking us for a meeting [during the off-season]. Sancho is not for sale.”

So good has been the Enlgand international’s form, that his teammate Achraf Hakimi has backed him to win the Ballon d’Or in the future.

“In a few years, if he continues at this level, he will be a candidate,” Hakimi told Marca.

“For me, he is a spectacular player. We know he is a player who still has to learn and improve because he is very young…but he is very good.”

Gary Neville compares United’s youngsters to the Class of 92

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has compared Manchester United’s current crop of young players to the class of 92.

Former United captain Gary Neville believes that the club’s current crop of youngsters don’t have a good enough spine around them to truly flourish. Neville came to United through the highly successful Class of 92, who eventually went on to win the treble with many more accolades.

Neville believes that the difference between the current youngsters and the Class of 92 is that the group of players he was a part of had better support from the senior players in the team.

“I actually think it’s a step backwards but a step in the right direction because enough is enough of all these players who have been coming in, not good enough, not fitting the style of play,” Neville said on Monday Night Football.

“It’s a change of direction, younger players who have hopefully got a future at Manchester United for the next 10 years. The three of them have started well and if you look at that team that played on Saturday, Wan-Bissaka, McTominary, James, Pereira, Rashford.

“There’s five young players there that are in the team. Are they good enough at this moment in time? No, they’ve got to prove themself, they’re all promising and they’re all working their absolute maximum every single match.

“Then I went back to the early days of ourselves. If you look at these players here now, Bruce, Pallister, Schmeichel, Keane, Cole, Cantona. The spine of that team is immense. The problem with Manchester United’s team now is not the five young players on the pitch or the three on the bench, the spine of the team is Lindelof, Matic, Mata, Young, De Gea.

“Who knows what Rashford is going to become, what James is going to become, Pereira, Wan-Bissaka. They’ve all got promise. What I do know is that five or six players there carried us as young players. Manchester United, somehow, have got to find a spine.

“Liverpool’s spine, City’s spine, they’re strong. All Championship-winning teams have a strong spine. So my thing at the moment is, how do Manchester United recruit in the next 12 to 18 months a spine to support those young players.”

Manchester United begin their Europa League campaign against Astana. This game will be a good opportunity for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to rotate his squad and hand opportunities to youngsters like Mason Greenwood, Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong.

Neville slams Raiola for Pogba saga

Former Manchester United great and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has lambasted Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola regarding his handling of the Frenchman’s transfer conundrum this summer.

Pogba openly stated his desire to quit the Red Devils while Raiola also voiced the same opinion as his client. And, Neville has stated that the 26-year-old’s behaviour and the issues surrounding him all the time are devastating for the club.

“He wants to leave. He has made it clear,” Neville told Norwegian media outlet TV2.

“His agent is a disgrace and has been a disgrace all over Europe – not just for Manchester United. They must stop working with him. He doesn’t have the values you want in your club.”

“My opinion is that Manchester United need not negotiate with him. He will try to fix a transfer for his player, and will try to take part of the transfer sum himself. That’s how he operates.”

“For Manchester United, it’s devastating. He [Pogba] is one of the best and most famous players in the world, but every week there are new issues.”

“There is always controversy. It’s probably not his own fault, but the fact is that it is devastating for a club.”

“That’s why Sir Alex Ferguson was at times clinical when he got rid of players. They were devastating.”

“In a football club, everyone has to go in the same direction.”

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has revealed that he watches the games of Manchester United and Manchester City midfielders to improve his own game. The 20-year-old had a breakout 2018/19 season where he played 38 times in all competitions for the Hammers.

Rice attracted a plethora of interest from top clubs following his impressive displays. However, he decided to stay put at the club.

“As a holding midfielder I’ve got so much to learn,” Rice told Monday Night Football following a 0-0 draw with Aston Villa when his side were down to 10 men.

“I try to watch the top players; the likes of Fernandinho, Rodri, Carrick back in his day, Busquets and try to pick little bits out of their game, see how they play.”

“Would I say yes now at 80million, 90 million? I’m not feeling that personally at this moment in time,” he told Sky Sports.

“But am I seeing a really good player who could potentially develop into something fantastic for the next ten years? Yes. I really do think that.”

“But do United need another player? They’ve already got Matic, they’ve already got McTominay who are doing a similar role to what I see Rice doing.“
