Mason Mount admits he had a tough start to his career at Old Trafford.

The Chelsea academy graduate arrived this summer with a £58 million fee and had a miserable start to his life at Manchester United.

He was ruled out with a hamstring injury for the past few weeks and struggled to make an impression in his first two Premier League appearances for the club.

Mount registered his first assist earlier this week in the Carabao Cup against Crystal Palace.

The 24-year-old was substituted in the 77th minute of the game as the English midfielder had just returned from a long-term injury.

“It was a tough start for me with the injury,” Mount said. “But I’ve used that time to look at areas I can improve on and coming back into the team in the last game, it felt good, then today, it felt good but we don’t want to lose games.

“Especially at home, we want to perform for our fans but we need to go away and look at areas that weren’t there.

“We’ve got Champions League at home under the lights next and that’s an exciting one to play, so hopefully we can win that game.”
