Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said that he is not confident about goalkeeper David de Gea signing a new deal with the club.

De Gea’s current contract with the club will expire at the end of the season and Mourinho has urged the club to keep him.

Mourinho said that even though he is not confident about de Gea signing a new deal with United, he is not concerned about it.

The Portuguese said, “I am not confident. cannot find the word in English, but let’s see what happens. Only the club, David and his people can answer that. My comment is only that everyone knows how good he is, how important he is for Manchester United and, if the club want to be better than it is and not worse, obviously it would be very important to keep David.”

David de Gea joined Manchester United from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and has since played 327 matches for the club across all competitions.

In the last few years, the Spaniard has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He is a talismanic figure in the team. Hence, Manchester United will certainly try their best to convince him to sign a new contract.

Manchester United’s next match is on Sunday against Everton at Old Trafford.
