Sofyan Amrabat is currently sidelined with a back injury.
The Moroccan international made his deadline-day move to Old Trafford on loan with an option to make the deal permanent next summer.
He had to withdraw from the Morocco squad in the international break after picking up a back injury.
The on-loan Fiorentina midfielder has the option to make his move to Old Trafford permanent next summer for €25m.
Amrabat is primarily a defensive midfielder who was brought in as a second specialist after Casemiro.
The 27-year-old would be out of the squad for the weekend clash against Brighton but Ten Hag explains how the midfielder’s versatility would help his squad.
“Not tomorrow, because he is not available,” Ten Hag told MUTV. “But what we missed in our squad was behind Casemiro, another one, typical holding midfielder. So with him, we have one.
“You see the overload on games, so we need a type. But also Amrabat can play alongside Casemiro because he is also capable to play in a higher position on the pitch, also he can play as a wing-back or full-back.”
