Sir Jim Ratcliffe completes deal to buy 25% of Manchester United.

The British billionaire has completed a deal to buy a minority stake in Premier League giants Manchester United in a deal worth around £1.3 billion.

The INEOS Chairman will take control of both men’s and women’s soccer operations but the Glazers family still remains as majority owners of the club.

The official announcement brought an end to 13 months of talks about a potential takeover of the Red Devils.

Ratcliffe will provide a further £237m investment in the infrastructure of the club.

The 71-year-old could go on to decide whether to keep faith with Erik ten Hag after a disastrous start to the ongoing campaign.

“As a local boy and a lifelong supporter of the club, I am very pleased that we have been able to agree a deal with the Manchester United board that delegates us management responsibility of the football operations of the club,” Ratcliffe said in the statement.

“We will bring the global knowledge, expertise and talent from the wider INEOS Sport group to help drive further improvement at the club, while also providing funds intended to enable future investment into Old Trafford.

“Our shared ambition is clear: we all want to see Manchester United back where we belong, at the very top of English, European and world football.”
