Anthony Martial will slowly be eased into team training ahead of new season.

He is currently recovering from a torn hamstring injury he endured back in May during a game against Fulham.

The French forward has sustained six separate injuries in the 2022/23 campaign.

Martial will now slowly be integrated back into the fold to make sure his injury is not aggravated further.

Erik ten Hag would definitely want to offload the Frenchman this summer but only few clubs would be willing to sign an injury-prone player.

But the manager is hopeful that 27-year-old could take some part in the pre-season games.

“Today, he was in the team training, so it is really hopeful.

“Of course, when you have a player in your squad you have to expect he is available and the players have to take responsibility to be available but when he is not, I have to deal with the situation and we have shown we can be successful without that striker.

“We need a good squad and Anthony Martial is a brilliant football player, so he will help us score goals. So we hope he’s fit and he stays fit.”
