'I Was The Biggest Problem' - Nemanja Matic

Nemanja Matic took responsibility for Manchester United’s sorry defeat against Everton on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils got battered 4-0 at the Goodison Park to incur more damage towards their Champions League qualification hopes. It was a mixture of timid effort and weak chemistry that led to this heavy defeat but every United faithful would agree that some players were simply unbearable to watch on the day.

Matic lost possession multiple times in dangerous areas but he could not be solely blamed. However, the Serbian admitted to his mistakes and claimed majority of the responsibilities.

“Nothing worked for us today. I, who am the most experienced player in the team today, did not play well. We can’t blame the young lads. I was the biggest problem,” he told TV2, as translated and quoted by United Xtra.

When asked whether or not he believed his players cared enough right now, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replied, “I don’t know, you’ve got to ask them. I’ve asked them, you’re not going get the answer from me, but if you want to play at this club it has to mean more.”

“We can’t change the whole squad. One step at a time. I’m going to be successful here and there are players that won’t be part of that.”
