Jonny Evans claims Man United are on the right path under Erik ten Hag.

The veteran midfielder left Old Trafford eight years ago and was handed a one-year contract by Erik ten Hag this summer.

He made his 200th appearance for the Red Devils in United’s 1-0 win over Burnley this weekend.

The Northern Ireland international won three Premier League titles and the Champions League during his first spell with the club under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Evans delivered an exceptional performance and his 40-yard pass set up the winning goal for Bruno Fernandes.

The Man United academy defender was asked if he ever imagined a second stint with his boyhood club.

“No, definitely not,” he admitted.

“It’s not a case of winding down. I think sort of people’s career trajectories kind of end up that way, and it’s very difficult for a club when you’re 35 years old to sort of take a chance on you.

“I had a lot of injury problems last year as well, so for the club to do that and sort of see the value in me, I’m very grateful to be given the opportunity.”
