In a great relief to Manchester United, the Football Association has dropped charges against Jose Mourinho who was alleged to have said foul words following the 3-2 win against Newcastle United.

United fought back from behind to register a much needed victory against the Magpies which saved Jose Mourinho from further lashing. After the final whistle, the Portuguese manager appeared to have uttered a few words in his native tongue which was caught on the TV camera.

FA had issued a statement giving the Mourinho a stipulated time to respond to the alleged charge and the gaffer later requested an extension which was granted. Mourinho has the history of getting involved in on field fracas and he has already been banned a number of times.

However, he seems to have escaped the punishment this time. A FA statement read : “A charge against Jose Mourinho for allegedly using language which was abusive and/or insulting and/or improper has been found not proven following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today [31/10/18].

“It related to an incident at the end of the Manchester United versus Newcastle United game on 6 October 2018.

“Written reasons for the decision of the Independent Regulatory Commission will be published in due course. This decision is subject to appeal.”
