Rio Ferdinand asks Ten Hag to handle the Sancho situation carefully

Jadon Sancho questioned Ten Hag’s decision to drop him last week.

Before the international break, Erik Ten Hag said Sancho was not included in the matchday squad against Arsenal as he underperformed in training.

Later that evening, Sancho posted a message on Twitter saying he had been made a ‘scapegoat’.

The English winger’s outburst has caused a major uproar and there were suggestions that United might try to offload the forward to Saudi Arabia.

Since then, Sancho has deleted the message and the pair have reportedly spoken privately about the matter.

Club legend Rio Ferdinand believes Ten Hag should trade carefully before reintroducing Sancho back to the squad.

“One of the big issues now is Antony and what happens to Sancho,” Ferdinand told his YouTube channel Vibe with Five.

“I think the manager will be thinking, ‘If I play him, or put him straight back in after what he has done, what message does that send to the squad?’.

“I think what is going to mean a lot is how he addresses the squad, if he makes the decision by playing him straight away.

“I think he will either go that way or just say, ‘He isn’t playing. This week he’s out. I do need him but I’ll let him go out’. He could then play Garnacho and Pellistri etc. and then go from there.”
