Rio Ferdinand gives his verdict on new Man United signing Rasmus Hojlund.

The Red Devils have reached an agreement with Atalanta on a £64m transfer fee upfront and £8m in add-ons.

Man United extensively scoured the market for a new striker and have settled for the 20-year-old Danish international who scored nine Serie A goals for Atalanta last season.

Club legend Rio Ferdinand urges fans to not quickly judge their new striker and to give him time to adjust to the Premier League.

He believes Hojlund would take time to adjust just like Darwin Nunez did in his debut season with Liverpool.

Ferdinand said: “Anyone who has seen him play will see there are attributes there that you would like. He’s suited to the Premier League. I think the price tag is out of his hands.”

“I look at it like Darwin Nunez from Liverpool. Last season was his adjusting season. He’s a young striker coming to the league, everything about him fits the Premier League perfectly, but it didn’t go as well as he would have liked.

“The quality is there but you’re always going to be paying big bucks – it’s Manchester United and English tax. That’s what happens.”
