Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea wants a massive hike in pay at the club according to reports.

De Gea’s current contract runs out at the end of this season. Hence, Manchester United have been trying to convince the Spanish goalkeeper sign a new long-term contract with the club.

De Gea currently earns £175,000 a week but he wants his salary to rise to £300,000 a week. The reason behind de Gea’s demand is because of the wages of Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez signed a deal with the club in January that sees him earn £500,000 a week. Sanchez’s performances for Manchester United have been pretty lacklustre ever since he joined the club.

David de Gea is one of Manchester United’s most important players and he has been clinical in front of the goal for the club this season.

Hence, Manchester United should try to meet de Gea’s demands to tie him to the club for a long time.
