Scott McTominay is expected to leave Old Trafford before deadline day.

The Scottish midfielder has fallen down the pecking order behind Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen and Mason Mount at Manchester United.

He came through the academy as a striker but developed into a box-to-box midfielder.

The 26-year-old has seen his time reduced at Old Trafford since Erik ten Hag’s arrival last summer.

He managed to start only 10 Premier League games last term and would seek pastures new before the deadline day.

McTominay has two years left on his contract and the club has set an asking price of £30 million.

Club legend Gary Neville believes the manager is forcing the midfielder out of Old Trafford this summer.

“What’s clear is that Manchester United’s midfield needs bolstering,” Neville told Sky Sports. “Ten Hag wants a number six who can play alongside Casemiro and, at the moment, the club can’t get players out to be able to fund that.

“If they look at the first two weeks, they have to fund it or there will be a big problem. What is clear is that Ten Hag doesn’t want to revert back to Scott McTominay.
