Jose Mourinho provides update on Luke Shaw's injury

The full-back suffered injury during the International break

Luke Shaw joined Manchester United from Southampton in 2014 for an undisclosed fee thought to be in the region of £30 million, becoming the most expensive teenager in world football. He signed a four-year contract with an option to extend for a further year.

The full-back started off his career at Old Trafford brightly and was progressing rapidly. But his development was curtailed as he suffered a double leg fractured in the Champions League match against PSV and was ruled out for 6 months.

Last season was frustrating for the 23 year old as he failed to convince Jose Mourinho to give him a place in the starting XI and Ashley Young was preferred ahead of him. He just managed to make 19 appearances in all competition.

The England International was heavily linked with a move away this summer but the Red Devils decided to keep him. He was also determined to stay in order to prove himself.

Despite the club not getting off to a mixed start this season, winning only 2 out of the 4 games, he has been one of the stand out players. The player has featured in all the fixtures so far.

He was also rewarded for his fine start this season as he was recalled to the England squad. This was his first call up to the squad since March 2017.

However, the defender suffered an head injury against Spain last week and it was suggested that he could be out for at least 2 weeks. But he provided update the injury was not as bad as it was initially thought.

Mourinho has revealed that Shaw can feature against Watford this weekend with the only issue being that he hasn’t trained with his team-mates this week.

“I don’t know – we still have a training session,” he said as quoted by Daily Star.

“Contrary to some news, to some opinions, by the protocol point of view and according to our doctor, he will be free to play.

“The only situation we have to analyse is if you are going to play him when, during the week, he was not training with the team or if, even so, he decides to play.”
