Varane’s Man United contract is set to expire a year earlier than previously stated.

Man United defender Raphael Varane is likely to leave the club at the end of the season as a free agent. The former Real Madrid star is already looking for possibilities to find some good challenges outside the Premier League.

The Frenchman was on his peak at Real Madrid but since his move to Man United, he failed to replicate his best show under Erik ten Hag.

Varane moved to The Red Devils in the summer of 2021 for an initial deal worth £34m. He signed a four-year deal with the club. Man United said the centre-back had penned a contract “keeping him at the club until June 2025”.

As per the Athletic, Varane’s Man United contract is set to expire a year earlier than previously stated. The Frenchman could walk away from the club on a free transfer when his deal expires in June 2024.

The 30-year-old has been restricted to eight starts in his 13 appearances this season. Bayern Munich and clubs from the Saudi Pro League are linked with him.
