Manchester United are no longer interested in signing Danny Rose

Jose Mourinho is happy with his current options

Manchester United are looking to bolster their squad this summer after an underwhelming campaign last season, not winning a single silverware. Their priority is to add defensive reinforcements and may sell few players in order to accommodate new signings.

Despite having the most clean sheets and the second best defensive record in the Premier League last term, Jose Mourinho is still not happy as he had to rely on auxiliary full-backs Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia and failed to settle on a consistent central defensive axis due to injuries and inconsistency.

Luke Shaw has failed to establish himself under the Portuguese and has been heavily linked with a summer exit. With Young turning 33 years next season, he has prioritized signing a new left-back in the transfer window.

The Red Devils have been linked to host of left-backs and one of them is Tottenham star Danny Rose.

Rose struggled with injuries for the past 18 months and since he returned to full fitness, he has struggled for regular game time last season. Mauricio Pochettino preferred Ben Davies ahead of the England International last term.

The 27 year old admitted that he has suffered from depression, which came on top of a catalogue of injuries. He even publicly stated that he wanted to move north to be closer to his family.

Spurs are also willing to sell if their asking price of £50 million is paid by his potential suitors and according to reports it was believed that Mourinho’s side would make a move for him.

But United are no longer interested in signing England left-back Danny Rose, according to The Mirror . The report claims former Chelsea manager has told executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward he is happy with his current options and that signing him is no longer a priority.

The club have recently signed Diogo Dalot from Porto, who is versatile enough to play both as a right-back and left-back. It will be huge boost for Shaw too, whose time at Old Trafford was looking to be over.
