Two Premier League Stars Manchester United Should Sign

Former Manchester United player, Wes Brown believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should sign a top striker and a number ten in the next transfer window.

The Red Devils have already spent £150m last summer on the transfers of Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire.

Now, Brown thinks United should prioritise their attacking numbers. He told 888sport, “I think Ole will try and buy in January. United need another striker and an attacking midfielder, that little wizard number 10.

“The defence is fine. The goalkeepers are fine. The ideal thing would be two strikers and two midfielders. If only it was that easy! Jack Grealish in the last few games has come on immensely. He can always see the pass. James Maddison has always been good and he’s a threat getting into the box. These are two young English players who would definitely help the squad.”

When asked if Manchester United will struggle to attract top talent due to the lack of Champions League football, Brown replied, “I still think United is a draw for players. We’re still buying big players and a lot of good English players with Harry and Wan-Bissaka coming in. Ben Chilwell is an excellent player and Leicester are on a brilliant run and you can see the whole team has been lifted.

“But if Manchester United went in for Chilwell I’m sure he would definitely come, 100%.”

Why Rashford is too good for United

Manchester United star striker Marcus Rashford is too good and will do better at Manchester City.

On a radio show, Adrian Durham has said that Marcus is too good for United.

“I actually think he is too good for Manchester United,” Durham said of Rashford.

“This is hypothetical of course but in your mind’s eye just imagine he was at Manchester City and he gets that first-team chance at Manchester City, does what he does and then is learning under Pep Guardiola over the past three, four years, can you imagine how good he might be then?

“I already think he’s terrific, I think he’s a terrific player.

“But imagine how much better he would be if he’d been at Man City where they’re settled, they’re learning from a coach, look how good Raheem Sterling’s become. I think he would be bordering on world class right now.

“When they first burst onto the scene, Rashford and Mbappe were at a level – Mbappe’s gone through the roof, because he’s been able to be in a settled, winning team that’s winning domestically, winning with his country as well.

Marcus Rashford has had to go through different managers, in and out of the team, some managers liking him, some managers not, different positions.

“Should he be slumming it in the Europa League? I personally don’t think so.

“I think he’s a Champions League player, I think he’s that good, I think he is selling himself short being at Man United.”

Manchester United Set Steep Asking Price For Chris Smalling

Manchester United Set Steep Asking Price For Chris Smalling

Manchester United want £17m for Chris Smalling if AS Roma want to keep him permanently next season.

The Red Devils set their asking price after holding talks with his loan club. Smalling has featured in 6 of the 10 Serie A games for Roma and has impressed.

He was surplus to requirements at Old Trafford but he is really helping the Giallorossi’s title-chase this season. Paulo Fonseca’s men sit fourth in the standings after beating Udinese 4-0 last night.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has found Smalling’s replacement in an £85m trade for Harry Maguire. It was a massive upgrade for United and they are looking to recoup some of that money through trading away the unnecessary bits.

The problem is Roma wants to tie up Smalling’s permanent deal for around £8m. He is about to turn 30 and also has a pretty sizeable contract after signing his last extension with United.

The Englishman joined them from Fulham in 2010 and revealed how he almost joined Arsenal.

“In my head, I was going to Arsenal,” he told The Athletic. “Then Manchester United got in touch. I was leaving the team bus at Blackburn away and [Fulham boss] Roy Hodgson said: ‘we’ve accepted a bid from Man United’. That threw me.

I felt there were more opportunities to play at Arsenal, but I spoke to Fergie and he said: ‘I wouldn’t sign you if I didn’t think you could play games.’ Maybe his aura felt right, but I made the right decision because I was soon playing alongside great players and winning the league.”

Manchester United beat Chelsea for the second time this season in under two months.

While the first defeat came through rather easily with United winning 4-0 at Old Trafford, the second time around it was more tricky.

The Blues were in brilliant form and there had been lots of talk about United’s latest form.

However, United came out 2-1 winners in the match with Rashford scoring both the goals. The second goal was a match winning strike in any game in the world.

Now the young striker has said that the Red Devils are ready to make it big this season after suffering in the first half of the season.

“We have been in a tough place,” Rashford told Sky Sports.

“We are still getting through that phase and the only way to do it is to fight your way through it.

“The main focus for us is just improvement and development because we are definitely going places. We have done a lot of good work.

“The start of the season wasn’t exactly what we expected but we have got to get through it and get back to winning games.”

The England international is doing really great at his new club.

Now Manchester United loanee Chris Smalling reveals why he left club for Serie A this summer.

Manchester United offloaded several players this summer in order to rebuild their squad. One such player was Chris Smalling, who was sent to Roma on loan.

The Englishman is enjoying his stay in Italy so far and is statistically one of the better defenders in the league. He has now revealed why he chose to step out of his comfort zone and move to Italy. In an interview with The Athletic, he revealed how the move came to be.

“I was in constant dialogue with Solskjaer and he told me that I would play a fair amount of games. I would have played 20-25 games, maybe more, but then Roma made their offer. It was put to me and I felt I could play 40-50 games with Roma, maybe twice what I would play at United.”

The Englishman continues to say that he could have easily stayed at Old Trafford this season. However, he chose to dive into the Roman challenge instead in order to play more.

“I could have picked up my wages, I have just become a father to a little boy of five months, I was settled in Manchester with my family. Coming to Rome was a challenge that I liked, a big club with big expectations.

“The manager doesn’t just want to get back in the top four, he wants to win a trophy. Roma have had some great Champions League nights recently, but the Europa League is important here this season.”

“I spoke to Roma manager Paulo Fonseca and he explained that he needed a centre back with the attributes I had. No player can be guaranteed to play every game, but I knew that if I was fit and performing then I would be able to play regularly. I’ve done that and the reaction from the coaching staff and the fans has lifted my confidence.”

Smalling scored his first goal for Roma in their recent match against Udinese. The Italian giants lost Federico Fazio to a red card early on but still went on to secure a 4-0 win.

Daniel Farke wanted Daniel James at Norwich City.

Norwich City boss Daniel Farke has revealed that he tried to sign Daniel James before Manchester United completed a move for the Welshman.

James starred for Swansea during the 2018-19 campaign and actually came close to joining Leeds United in January only for his Welsh club to pull the plug at the final moment.

Manchester United ultimately signed the 21-year-old for a figure in the region of €17 million, and the attacker has provided three goals and one assist in nine Premier League outings this season.

Farke has claimed that he wanted to bring the Wales international to Carrow Road before being made to admit defeat once the Red Devils had showed their hand.

“He is a player I always liked and I tried to see if there was chance we could work together,” Farke told reporters. “Sadly when Manchester United calls there is no chance for Norwich to get a player. I’m not surprised he had become a key player for them so early. All respect to him because he is already crucial.”

United beat Norwich City 3-1 at Carrow Road on Sunday despite missing two penalties to claim their first Premier League away win of the season and move up to seventh in the table.

English Football In Healthy State Because Of Lampard, Terry, Gerrard – Gary Neville

English Football In Healthy State Because Of Lampard, Terry, Gerrard - Gary Neville

Gary Neville believes English football in good hands after the emergence of Frank Lampard, John Terry, Steven Gerrard and Phil Neville in coaching roles.

“Forget the players, when we’ve had the most successful times in European football, it’s when we’ve had the best coaches in this country, not necessarily the best players, because they always tend to go to Real Madrid or Barcelona, the Luis Figos and Zinedine Zidanes in the mid-naughties,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“If you bring Pep here, and Klopp here, Pochettino too, you’re going to do well in the Champions League. These coaches are also stimulating our younger British coaches. So we’ve got the best international talent, young British coaches coming through, and this game is healthy at this moment.

“I wasn’t saying this on Sky three or four years ago, I was worried and saying that with the money we were spending, we’re not getting the fruits of what we were spending. We are now. There are issues we need to resolve, with racism and other such things, but the game is healthy from a quality point of view. If we get rid of those other issues, then I think we’re in a good place.

“I’m really happy that in the last two years Michael Carrick, Scott Parker, my brother Phil, Stevie Gerrard, Frank Lampard and John Terry have gone into coaching, and Wayne Rooney wants to be a coach. I’m actually happy now that the balance is shifting towards some coming into punditry, and some coming into coaching.

“I did coaching and punditry when I finished. People who sit there as a coach and say punditry is easy, try it, because there aren’t many people who can articulate their thoughts into words so people at home can listen to it well. And people who are pundits who think coaching is easy, go and try to do that, get a message into 20 players on a training pitch of what it is that’s in your head! Both are completely different and difficult in their own way.

“But I’m also happy that Eddie Howe, Sean Dyche, Brendan Rodgers – who haven’t had the careers that some of those have had – are having good careers. Then you’ve got Pep Guardiola, Antonio Conte, Pochettino, Wenger, Ferguson, Mourinho – wonderful coaches in this Premier League, and the best coaches are the most important thing to this league.”

Manchester United Backed To Finish In Top Four

Manchester United Backed To Finish In Top Four

Manchester United have been handed some hope of finishing in the top four this season by Paul Merson.

The former Arsenal player believes United could be back in the mix for one of the Champions League spots if they continue their recent form.

The Red Devils ended their Premier League winless run with a 3-1 victory over Norwich City on Sunday.

“It’s been a good week for them,” Merson told Sky Sports. “They stopped Liverpool, went to Partizan and kept a clean sheet and they would have wanted to keep a clean sheet against Norwich.

“They had to beat Norwich surely, they got beaten 5-0 by Aston Villa at home and the last thing you need is to be going there and getting beaten – that would have been a disaster. We put such a high bar on Man Utd because they’re the biggest club in the world and now we’re talking about having a good week drawing at home to Liverpool and beating Partizan and Norwich away.

“I didn’t think in my wildest dreams that I’d be sitting here talking about a good week like that for Man Utd. A few years ago, it wouldn’t even come up, it would just be run of the mill.

“Liverpool don’t win at Old Trafford and they go and win the other two games – that’s what is expected, but this is where they are at the moment. All it is with Man Utd is a bit of consistency and confidence. You only have to win three on the trot and before you know it, you’re back in the top-four race and that’s what they’re in.”

“Martial is a top player, he’s better than a lot of the players they’ve got,” Merson added. “If you’re the manager, you’re always going to hope a player like him is coming back into the team. On his day, he can rip anybody apart. ‘With Marcus Rashford also playing, they’re going to hurt teams and fly up the table but it’s all about consistency and they’ve got to put in performances like they did against Liverpool every week.”

Manchester United break two Premier League records in Norwich win

Manchester United made two pieces of history today as they beat Norwich City 3-1 at Carrow Road.

Manchester United came away from Carrow Road in Norfolk with all three points after an impressive 3-1 victory.

First, Scott McTominay opened the scoring in the first half to make it 2000 Premier League goals for Manchester United the first team to reach this incredible milestone. The Red Devils went on to score two more through Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial to make it 3-1 and achieve one of their most impressive away performances in some time.

Remarkably, however, both Rashford and Martial also missed penalties in this game – the first time two players on the same team have both scored and missed penalties for their side in a single Premier League game.

That is not necessarily a record United will be thrilled to hold, with their team really struggling to score from the spot so far this season. While the goal scorers may have taken the plaudits, one defender certainly made his presence felt too.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has impressed since joining the Red Devils from Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window, and made himself a hero once again during the Premier League clash with Norwich City.

Statistics have shown that the right back managed to win a total of 11 tackles against the Canaries, which is the most by any player in this season.

Ryan Giggs Lifts Lid On The Players Manchester United Are Chasing

Ryan Giggs knows exactly the type of player Manchester United will be targeting in the next transfer window.

“We need to bring quality in,” Giggs told the United Stand. “Ole has brought three in who are all doing well. His dealings have been very good so far.

“Give him the money other managers have had to get Man Utd players. Get another five or six players like that in, we will see a real difference.

“They are missing that creative player. It is no coincidence, the best performances have been against good teams. The lesser teams are always harder to break down. We are probably just a bit shy of them creative players and I think Ole recognises that.”

“It has been a difficult start,” Giggs added. “As far as Ole is concerned, I know him well, as a player and person.

“He is going to need time. Since the manager left, different philosophies and types of players and Ole is trying to turn that around. He is looking at the future and trying to win games at the same time. It is difficult.

“When you are in a league with Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola fantastic, established coaches. I don’t care who came in, it was never going to be easy.”
