The Red Devils failed to win this weekend.

And their summer arrival knows who is to point the finger towards.

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has blamed the forwards for failing to score from the numerous chances they got early in the first half in 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth.

Joshua King’s goal just seconds before the half-time whistle turned out to be the only difference between the two sides in the Premier League encounter. United’s new signing from Leicester City, Maguire explained that the quality in the final third wasn’t good enough from their side and they struggled to create clear cut chances in the second half.

“Disappointed. We conceded at an awful time at a stage where we started the game really well. The first 20 minutes we were well on top, we have got to score in that period, with numerous chances,” Maguire told MUTV when asked how he feels about the result.

“The quality in the final third was not good enough to create a real clear cut chance, then they came into the game at the end of the first-half and it is an awful time to concede just before half-time, it is probably the worst.

“Disappointing that we huffed and puffed in second-half, we had them pinned back coming off the back of three away games we were confident going in to the game. In the end we are really disappointed.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial for their recent form.

The boss has said that the return of Martial has helped Rashford return to form.

He said, “I think since Anthony (Martial) has come back, Marcus has flourished,” the Norwegian said at his press conference.

“He’s probably happier facing goal, being direct, driving at people, taking players on instead of being that target man – back to goal.

“Marcus wants to master all the skills in the end, he’s only 22, so I’m sure we’ll see him up front as a No 9, maybe as a two with Anthony, maybe as a three like we did against Norwich or wide like we did against Chelsea.

“There’s different ways of playing with Marcus and it was important for him and for me that he stepped up and took a penalty against Chelsea.”

United are on a three match winning streak and a four match undefeated streak. They drew against Liverpool, won in Europe, won away at Norwich and finally won at the Bridge last week.

In all these matches, they had Rashford playing upfront or on the wings and was brilliant.

Ole confident of United

Manchester United have been of a decent run lately. They drew versus Liverpool and then registered three wins on the trot including beating Chelsea at the Bridge.

Their boss Ole has now said that the team’s confidence is on the high.

‘There are many things that give me loads of confidence,’ the United manager said.

‘We can talk about performance but it’s results that matter. You can talk about results, I can talk about six out of seven good performances.

‘West Ham, we know, was below par [losing 2-0] but it wasn’t as bad as you lot made it out to be.’

‘How many times have we been 1-0 up and not got the second goal?’ Solskjær said.

‘This is a steep learning curve for us and we’ll keep working hard and, with more experience, we’ll make the right decisions.

‘It’s another game that we’re 1-0 up – Southampton, Wolverhampton, we need to learn to win these games.’

The United team under Ole has looked somewhat disjointed with the manager making mostly delusional comments about how they are getting close.

United remain far off the top tier teams with their best players unwilling to stay at the club.

Gary Neville Warns Ole Solskjaer Ahead Of Bournemouth Tie

Gary Neville Warns Ole Solskjaer Ahead Of Bournemouth Tie

It would take just one game to put Ole Solskjaer once again under pressure, Gary Neville states.

The Norwegian’s job at Manchester United has been questioned by fans and pundits alike due to their shaky start to the campaign.

United are 7th in the Premier League standings, 7 points behind fourth-placed Chelsea and a whopping 15 points behind leaders, Liverpool. They finally ended their winless run with a 3-1 victory over Norwich City last Sunday and also managed to get past Chelsea in the Carabao Cup 1-2.

“As a United fan, I went into the Liverpool game panicking,” Neville told talkSPORT. “I was thinking this could be a bad day, this could get moody in the stadium, Liverpool are a great team and they could go 3-0 up – but United played really well.

“Ole had been questioned tactically but he got it right on the day and that was the start of this little run they’re on, beating Partizan and then the Norwich win was big. ‘I don’t think they would have been capable of going to Norwich and winning pre the international break.’

“That Liverpool game gave them a little bit of confidence to think: ‘We’re better than this, let’s be positive and beat Norwich.’ So there has been a mini-revival, but I don’t think Ole will be sat comfortable in his chair. I think he realises he is one game away from the clouds circling again. Ole is looking up the table rather than look down, so it’s an important game.”

Fans Should Wait To See The Best Of Martial – Ole Solskjaer

Fans Should Wait To See The Best Of Martial - Ole Solskjaer

Anthony Martial is yet to hit his best form, according to Manchester United boss, Ole Solskjaer.

The striker has struck the back of the net 4 times in 5 outings for United. He has appeared to naturally fit into the number 9 role with Marcus Rashford and Daniel James next to him.

“I don’t think he’s had a long run of games as a no.9,” Solskjaer said in Friday’s pre-match press conference. “I saw his interview the other day [for UTD Unscripted] – and you have to be obsessed with scoring goals as a no.9, and he is looking more and more like a player who wants to score goals, not just showing his tricks.

“For me, he’s matured a lot in his behaviour on the training ground as well. I believe we’re going to see the best of him in the next few years,” Ole added.

Solskjaer insists that Martial’s positive attitude in training has helped with his overall performance and also to lift the squad’s spirits.

“He looks happier,” said the boss. “He’s such an infectious boy: his smile and his sense of humour; you can see he’s happy here and that rubs off on everyone and it’s great to see.

“It’s miles better on the training ground and they’re encouraging each other. It’s nice to see as a manager and coach, when you see them coming out and wanting to do extra training.”

Manchester United to step up pursuit for Juventus outcast Emre Can

The Red Devils have recently been linked with two Juventus players.

One of them is unhappy striker Mario Mandzukic, and now Emre Can has joined the list.

Juventus have reportedly allowed midfielder Emre Can to make his move to Manchester United in the upcoming January transfer window. The Red Devils have been in the market for a midfielder and a forward and want to add reinforcements to their squad in January itself and looks like they might complete at least once signing.

Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini were both sold in the last couple of transfer windows and despite being linked with the likes of Bruno Fernandes all throughout the summer, Manchester United did not get a new midfielder on board.

Multiple reports claim that they have shifted their focus towards the former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can. The Germany international is looking for a way out from the club after being left out of their UEFA Champions League squad by manager Maurizio Sarri.

Not long ago, reports in Sky Sports claimed that the Serie A giants have named their price for Can. The report claims that Juventus will accept a bid of around €40 million in the January transfer window. And now Italian newspaper Tuttosport reports that the Serie A giants have allowed Can to return to the Premier League.

The report claims that United will have to face competition from the likes of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain for his signature.

Former Manchester United player, Wes Brown believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should sign a top striker and a number ten in the next transfer window.

The Red Devils have already spent £150m last summer on the transfers of Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire.

Now, Brown thinks United should prioritise their attacking numbers. He told 888sport, “I think Ole will try and buy in January. United need another striker and an attacking midfielder, that little wizard number 10.

“The defence is fine. The goalkeepers are fine. The ideal thing would be two strikers and two midfielders. If only it was that easy! Jack Grealish in the last few games has come on immensely. He can always see the pass. James Maddison has always been good and he’s a threat getting into the box. These are two young English players who would definitely help the squad.”

When asked if Manchester United will struggle to attract top talent due to the lack of Champions League football, Brown replied, “I still think United is a draw for players. We’re still buying big players and a lot of good English players with Harry and Wan-Bissaka coming in. Ben Chilwell is an excellent player and Leicester are on a brilliant run and you can see the whole team has been lifted.

“But if Manchester United went in for Chilwell I’m sure he would definitely come, 100%.”

Why Rashford is too good for United

Why Rashford is too good for United

Manchester United star striker Marcus Rashford is too good and will do better at Manchester City.

On a radio show, Adrian Durham has said that Marcus is too good for United.

“I actually think he is too good for Manchester United,” Durham said of Rashford.

“This is hypothetical of course but in your mind’s eye just imagine he was at Manchester City and he gets that first-team chance at Manchester City, does what he does and then is learning under Pep Guardiola over the past three, four years, can you imagine how good he might be then?

“I already think he’s terrific, I think he’s a terrific player.

“But imagine how much better he would be if he’d been at Man City where they’re settled, they’re learning from a coach, look how good Raheem Sterling’s become. I think he would be bordering on world class right now.

“When they first burst onto the scene, Rashford and Mbappe were at a level – Mbappe’s gone through the roof, because he’s been able to be in a settled, winning team that’s winning domestically, winning with his country as well.

Marcus Rashford has had to go through different managers, in and out of the team, some managers liking him, some managers not, different positions.

“Should he be slumming it in the Europa League? I personally don’t think so.

“I think he’s a Champions League player, I think he’s that good, I think he is selling himself short being at Man United.”

Manchester United Set Steep Asking Price For Chris Smalling

Manchester United Set Steep Asking Price For Chris Smalling

Manchester United want £17m for Chris Smalling if AS Roma want to keep him permanently next season.

The Red Devils set their asking price after holding talks with his loan club. Smalling has featured in 6 of the 10 Serie A games for Roma and has impressed.

He was surplus to requirements at Old Trafford but he is really helping the Giallorossi’s title-chase this season. Paulo Fonseca’s men sit fourth in the standings after beating Udinese 4-0 last night.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has found Smalling’s replacement in an £85m trade for Harry Maguire. It was a massive upgrade for United and they are looking to recoup some of that money through trading away the unnecessary bits.

The problem is Roma wants to tie up Smalling’s permanent deal for around £8m. He is about to turn 30 and also has a pretty sizeable contract after signing his last extension with United.

The Englishman joined them from Fulham in 2010 and revealed how he almost joined Arsenal.

“In my head, I was going to Arsenal,” he told The Athletic. “Then Manchester United got in touch. I was leaving the team bus at Blackburn away and [Fulham boss] Roy Hodgson said: ‘we’ve accepted a bid from Man United’. That threw me.

I felt there were more opportunities to play at Arsenal, but I spoke to Fergie and he said: ‘I wouldn’t sign you if I didn’t think you could play games.’ Maybe his aura felt right, but I made the right decision because I was soon playing alongside great players and winning the league.”

Manchester United beat Chelsea for the second time this season in under two months.

While the first defeat came through rather easily with United winning 4-0 at Old Trafford, the second time around it was more tricky.

The Blues were in brilliant form and there had been lots of talk about United’s latest form.

However, United came out 2-1 winners in the match with Rashford scoring both the goals. The second goal was a match winning strike in any game in the world.

Now the young striker has said that the Red Devils are ready to make it big this season after suffering in the first half of the season.

“We have been in a tough place,” Rashford told Sky Sports.

“We are still getting through that phase and the only way to do it is to fight your way through it.

“The main focus for us is just improvement and development because we are definitely going places. We have done a lot of good work.

“The start of the season wasn’t exactly what we expected but we have got to get through it and get back to winning games.”
