Manchester United star Nemanja Matic has had his say on the captaincy issue at the club and how he plans to help the Red Devils.
“It is always great to hear when someone like Bryan Robson says things like that. If he says that, it means something to me. I am happy,” said Matic. “Of course, I am one of the most experienced players in the team now and, whatever my role, I will try to lead them the best way I can.”
But he warned: “I am here to help, of course – but, especially in front of me, they need to listen to me!
“It was a pleasure for me to be the captain against Inter. It is an honour, of course, not many players can be the captain. So whatever happens in the future, I will always remember being captain against Inter.
“The manager has to make his decision about the captaincy for next season, but whatever he decides we will be happy of course.
“But let’s stick to the football. Who is captain is important, but if we play good football and fight for each other, that is most important.”
