Casemiro has had a brilliant debut season under manager Erik ten Hag.

The Brazilian midfielder bagged seven goals for the Red Devils in the 2022/23 campaign and it is the third time in Casemiro’s career that he has reached the milestone.

He was pivotal for Man United’s defense and also carried a major threat in the attacking front.

But the former Real Madrid player reveals he prefers winning the ball rather than finding the back of the net.

The midfielder general has been used to protect the backline and link the midfield.

“Everyone likes to get on the scoresheet but a favourite phrase of mine is always that my ball-winning tackles are my goals,” Casemiro told club media.

“That’s what I really like doing and that’s when I’m at my happiest. When I’m winning the ball back, helping out my teammates, getting my teammates playing and moving the ball better, closing down space and then ensuring that we bring the ball out from the back with quality.

“I get the odd goal now and again but, of course, I’m not what you’d call a genuine goal scorer!”
