Manchester United legend believes the club will win Premier League under Jose Mourinho

He believes the Portuguese needs little time to settle

Jose Mourinho was appointed as Manchester United manager back in 2016, taking over the charge from Louis Van Gaal. He guided the team to win League and Europa League, which ensured their return to the Champions League.

The Red Devils finished second in the Premier League behind Manchester City last season, their highest ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. They also reached the FA Cup final but were beaten by Chelsea.

The manager wanted quality additions during this summer transfer window after signing the likes of Nemanja Matic, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Paul Pogba etc in the the past transfer windows. Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant joined the squad this summer.

But the club failed to sign any more players the Portuguese wanted, especially a high profile centre-back and openly expressed his disappointment for not getting the players.

The Premier League giants have had a mixed start to this season, winning 2 and losing 2 in the Premier League so far. The former Chelsea manager and is under increasing pressure at the club amid rumours of serious rifts behind the scenes.

United legend Peter Schmeichel believes the club will win the Premier League under Mourinho and feels he needs little time to settle.

‘When we give him time and patience and we understand that this is a period of development to when we can win the Premier League, we will get there,’ Schmeichel told Sky Sports as quoted by Metro.

‘He has done so many great things, but Manchester United is a different level to anything.

‘Because of the scrutiny, the traditions that we have and the history. All this needs to be in the equation every day.

‘Every single day we respect our history. We have a way that we want to play and a way we want to be, behave. All this comes through in the right way.

‘You can’t just walk into Old Trafford and you’re there. There’s so many things you have to get used to.’
