Manchester United Lining Up Big Name Signings For January

Manchester United Lining Up Big Name Signings For January

Manchester United are preparing themselves for a busy January transfer window after a disappointing start to the 2019/20 season.

The Red Devils are struggling to find the back of the net and it has become quite apparent, reinforcements are necessary.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer strengthened his defensive line with Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the summer but now, he needs to focus on adding more creativity and flair into this team.

United are reportedly monitoring Moussa Dembele of Olympique Lyon who finished last season with 23 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions. He has started off the 2019/20 campaign in blinding form, grabbing 6 goals in 7 games, so far.

Jadon Sancho and James Maddison are also high priority targets for Solskjaer. Sancho has been excelling in the Bundesliga after leaving Manchester City for the more youth-friendly Borussia Dortmund.

Maddison has attracted a lot of praise for his level of impact for Leicester City after being introduced into the Premier League a little over a year ago. United are genuinely weak in the midfield ranks and could use playmakers like Sancho and Maddison to boost up their scoring threat.

However, both players are enjoying rewarding spells in their current settings. Sancho is playing Champions League football with BVB and Leicester could make their way into the Premier League top four if they continue with their recent form.

Manchester United told they were wrong to sack Jose Mourinho

Former Chelsea, Liverpool and England player Joe Cole has said that Manchester United made a mistake in sacking Jose Mourinho. The Special One was fired from the role following an abysmal run of results in December last season.

Speaking on the subject, Cole said,
“One thing with Jose that we all know is that he’s a winner and what he will tell you that if things are not right, he will address it,” he told BT Sport.

“His issue at the club when the signings weren’t quite right, he brought that into the light. That Mourinho, Pogba, Ed Woodward, that signing sort of summed up the club. You had fans pulling in one direction, the manager trying to say ‘we want these players’ and Woodward saying ‘we can’t get these for whatever reason’.”

“Jose is not one who will sit there quietly being a good boy, thinking ‘I’m happy to be Manchester United manager’, he knows that his reputation was at stake and he was telling people that it wasn’t right, he wants a centre-half.”

“For me, it was glaring that things behind the scenes were wrong and I think getting rid of Jose at the time they did was the wrong call for the club, that wasn’t where the problem is.”

“As a financial man, commercial deals, getting deals done, his contacts, Woodward is second to none and he’s running a successful business but for Manchester United fans, who are used to massive success, used to a well-run club, at the moment it’s all over the gaffe.”

Manchester United face a tough test as they face Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

Andy Cole expresses over usage of Mason Greenwood

Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole has expressed his fears about the overuse of Mason Greenwood at his ex-club. The 17-year-old has been the shining positive in an otherwise abysmal start for the Red Devils this season.

Greenwood made it to the scoresheet in games against Astana and Rochdale in the Europa League and Carabao Cup respectively. And, Vole thinks using him more of often than not could hurt his chances of becoming a good player in the long term.

“He’s got a chance, he has got a chance,” Cole said on BBC Radio 5 Live when asked if Greenwood has the quality to succeed long-term at the Theatre of Dreams. “His finishing is a joke. Left or right foot, he’s got quality in abundance.

“I just hope they don’t – which Manchester United won’t do anyway – that they don’t put too much undue pressure on him. He’s got great ability. They (Man Utd) are looking at it and saying ‘We’ve got Mason, we’re going to give Marcus [Rashford] the opportunity to play centre-forward.”

“The disappointing thing is he’s going to have to get thrown into the deep end a little bit earlier than they would have liked. [That’s] due to injuries and due to them being prepared to allow [Romelu] Lukaku and [Alexis] Sanchez go.”

“Ideally it would have been nice if they bought themselves another centre-forward.”

Manchester United are currently gearing up to face Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

The Croatian has rejected interest from the Middle East to seal Old Trafford move.

Mario Mandzukic is keen on joining Manchester United in January.

Juventus’ striker Mario Mandzukic is reportedly waiting to join Manchester United as Ed Woodward lines up a January transfer move for the striker.

Manchester United’s start to the season has been very uneven so far and after a thrashing win over Chelsea, the Red Devils stumbled into a ditch when the pressure started mounting.

Now struggling to get back in the top-four, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side’s injury issues are becoming a surmounting issue. They’ve only scored 8 goals in 6 games so far, with neither striker picking up steam after Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez were both sold to Inter Milan.

There is an obvious need for a more reliable goal-scorer to support and possibly influence Rashford and Martial and. Now according to Tuttosport, the Red Devils will go back for Mario Mandzukic in 2020 to solve their striking woes.

United had pondered upon a short-term deal for the Croatian striker as a possible deadline day move in the summer, but had opted against it because of surmounting salary issues. It is claimed that the renewed interest is the reason the Croatian has turned down a mega-money deal on offer in Qatar.

Paul Pogba A Doubt For Arsenal Clash: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Paul Pogba has picked up a knock against Rochdale and is a doubt for the Arsenal game.

Manchester United are due to face their rivals at Old Trafford on Monday night and losing Pogba for the fixture will be a huge blow.

Solskjaer is under immense pressure after leading the Red Devils to a rocky start to the 2019/20 campaign. United are 8th in the standings after collecting only 2 wins in the 6 Premier League games played so far.

Just last week they fell to a 2-0 defeat against West Ham United and things are about to get even more difficult without their best playmaker. Despite, Pogba’s obvious urge to leave Old Trafford, he still remains the most creative aspect of this United side.

Without him, the Red Devils struggle to formulate their own attacks and they have been suffering from this disease right after their 4-0 thumping of Chelsea in August.

Arsenal are facing issues of their own under Unai Emery but they seem to be a far more collected side at this point.

Manchester United eye January move for Ligue 1 top scorer Moussa Dembele

The French target-man could soon head for England.

United have reportedly turned their attentions towards Lyon star Moussa Dembele as they continue Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s revolution.

Moussa Dembele has shone throughout his career at clubs like Celtic and Fulham before also impressing in Ligue 1, and there seems little doubt he could improve this struggling Manchester United squad.

The likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial don’t really look good enough for the Red Devils after the loss of both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez over the summer.

Perhaps Marcus Rashford‘s worrying performance as a striker has concerned Solskjaer enough to invest in the sensational Frenchman. Anthony Martial has been sorely missed so maybe the young Englishman is better off causing damage from the left-wing.

The young striker has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the past but nothing materialized for whatever reason. However, United’s need for attacking depth is well documented and Dembele would certainly beef up an otherwise thin squad.

According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils have scouted Dembele across the past three games he’s played as they aim to sign him in January.

It will definitely be difficult to get Lyon to let go of one of their key players halfway through the season but if the board are serious about backing Solskjaer then they need to deliver his targets. Everyone’s already had enough proof that letting go of Romelu Lukaku without signing anyone was a disastrous decision and so there’s a need to make up for it.

Manchester United’s season could be decided by what they do after January and at that point it would be clearer what needs to be done.

Juan Mata reveals about meeting David Moyes and his departure in his new book. He said he felt sorry for Moyes after his brief spell at Old Trafford. Mata on meeting Moyes and his departure.

Mata tells the inside story of life at Manchester United, as well as reliving his childhood in his new book:

Suddenly a footballer: My Story

Juan Mata on meeting Moyes and his departure:

“The first time I met David was seconds after coming out of a helicopter, as this is how I arrived at Manchester United’s AON Training Complex. Pretty cool, I know. Bond-style. “He was waiting for us to land and welcomed me and my family with a big smile and these words: ‘Welcome to a fantastic club, a massive club. The biggest club there is.

“Then he took us to his office and we talked. ‘Juan, I know what type of player you are, I know what you can bring to the team. I need a player like you who can link the play.’ “When I arrived, late January, the campaign was already halfway gone and things were not going too well. We were seventh in the league. Results were not materialising and the atmosphere was not ideal. “A few months later, after some more disappointing games, the club decided to part with Moyes and chose Ryan Giggs to look after the first team until the end of the season. The Moyes era had been much, much shorter than expected.”

Mata explains how Moyes kept his dignity and pride intact right to the very end of his 10-month stay.

“Even at his farewell, he showed integrity and said goodbye to us in a very classy way, shaking all our hands and looking us all in the eye, wishing us good luck for the future,” Mata writes. “I made sure to thank him for bringing me here and wished him all the best. “Again, I felt sorry for the man who was leaving, feeling partly responsible as every player does when a decision like this is made.”

Moyes signed Mata in January 2014 for £37.1 million.

Since then, Mata has played for three different managers at United, winning several trophies. The Spaniard has since made 225 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 45 goals, and recording 37 assists. He has played all 6 games for United in the league this season.

Paul Parker passes Ole verdict

Paul Parker has said that Manchester United should not fire Ole.

He told talkSPORT: “I just think it doesn’t make sense for Manchester United to sack a manager, whether you want to call it a sacking or leaving by mutual consent. I don’t think they can at the moment because they’ve got enough issues going on.

“I think they are in such a bad place at the moment it would throw more mud at the club if they were to get rid of Ole.

“If they could come out and say ‘we are getting rid of him and we are going to have a clean slate with someone fresh’, in other words Ed Woodward is going to move away from his position and someone else is going to take that position and the club is going to be run as what it should be, a football club, I would say yes.

“Whoever is going to come in next is going to have the same barriers in front of them.”

“There’s not enough men now, who I would come out and say, who have got anything about them to believe they can make something happen.

“I keep reading all the time about bringing through these young players, I think to myself, if you were a parent and your son was with Manchester United you would not want him to go on that pitch to make his debut with that team there in this moment in time.

“There are too many selfish players out there who are more concerned about their own issues than be concerned about looking after a young player out there who is looking to make his name in the game.

“It’s the wrong time to be using these wrong players.”

Paul Pogba Has Made Up His Mind To Leave Manchester United

Paul Pogba Has Made Up His Mind To Leave Manchester United

Paul Pogba wants out of Manchester United – it is no longer a secret and apparently, it has been made even more evident now.

According to the Sun, the Frenchman could push for a transfer this January and will in no way, sign an extension beyond June 2021.

United have an option to keep him for one more season but it is unlikely the player will agree to the clause. His agent, Mino Raiola has already revealed how badly he wants to leave Old Trafford.

Pogba believes the Red Devils are going in reverse and refuses to become the scapegoat for their recent downfall. The midfielder is one of the most celebrated figures in world football but it is his status which also attracts a lot of criticism.

At 26, he wishes to find success elsewhere and this might be the “come and get me” plea for all European powerhouses. United values him at around £180m, according to Daily Mail – both, Juventus and Real Madrid have refused to meet that asking price.

Pogba seems to be the only creative hub of the United midfield and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer simply cannot afford to lose him without signing a replacement first. United might be forced into lowering their demands if there is much resistance from the Frenchman. Of course, no one wants another Neymar-PSG saga at Old Trafford.

Brescia playmaker Sandro Tonali on Manchester United radar

The English side are keeping tabs on one of their top transfer targets.

Manchester United sent scouts to watch Brescia’s teenage star play against Juventus in Serie A on Monday night.

Sandro Tonali is extremely highly thought of in Italy and has drawn comparisons with the legendary Andrea Pirlo due to his style of play as well as for starting his career at Brescia. The 19-year-old deep-lying midfielder, came up through the youth ranks of Brescia, before breaking into the club’s first-team setup during the 2017-18 season, at the tender age of 17.

He made 34 appearances last season in Serie B as his performances helped Brescia gain promotion to the top flight. He has since started this season well, featuring in all five of the club’s opening league games and notching an assist against Bologna.

According to reports in Italy, Tonali’s performances for the newly-promoted side have already attracted the attention of Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus.

However, it is Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claiming United sent scouts to watch the youngster on Tuesday night, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to add more creativity into the midfield, plotting a £35m move for the midfielder in January.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to regenerate United’s side with further youthful additions in future transfer windows and Tonali would certainly fit the bill. The Red Devils embarked on a youth-driven approach in the transfer market during the summer with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, both 21, joining the club.
